Anyone watching this and struggling and having these feelings of not being able to get help. Therapy not working, meds not working but still mental health deteriorates. I went through this a few years ago. It was bad. Really bad. I was on the verge of no longer being. But then I got help that actually worked. I enrolled in Thais Gibson’s Personal Development School. I did the course work. I did the CBT work using the tools she gave me and I got much much better. It’s been years now and yeah sure I still swing into the dark from time to time but that’s just life. The crushing, suffocating, drowning feelings are no more. Furthermore, I learned tools for dealing with high emotional states. I say all this because, generally speaking, mental health care is an absolute joke but there is help out there if you know where to look. Good luck to all of you who suffer. I truly hope you get past it.

I so wish I could find a therapist like Robyn who understands the need for the human connection. Also brilliant commentary from both of you on this Ren masterpiece. The checklist-driven therapy is everywhere now, and it is so good to hear people working in this field who really want to make a difference and change things - and who also have the insight to do it. Gives me hope ❤

Very interesting and reassuring that Robyn responded to this in such an open empathetic and honest way The discussion was helpful too. One of the best reactions from my perspective and anyone who has watched Ren"s Chapters will know how Ren only made progress when he started advocating for himself Not doing so would have had a very sad and different outcome

Here within the first couple of hours and an immediate subscriber! Why? You made an astute assessment when there was a flash of the pig mask that the therapist had on. You asked, "Did you see that flash? Is it Ren who is hallucinating or the therapist being revealed?" How powerful! A couple of years ago I was in a therapy session that went sideways. Knowing in my gut that the session didn't go well I went back to check her therapy notes for the session which were noted in my chart. And I couldn't believe that she had diagnosed me with a personality disorder! Now let me add that I had been in therapy with a myriad of VA psychiatric caregivers spanning some twenty years. Interestingly enough none of those individuals ever hinted that I might have such a psychiatric disorder as this. So thank you so much for that comment! Because it brought healing to me that, that was what happened to me. It wasn't my having a supposed disorder that was being revealed, but this therapist.

Your channel as well as the therapist would benefit from viewing Ren's 8 Chapters series, where he takes us through his initial 8 year health struggle, ages 19 - 27.🔥🔥 There is so much gold in these chapters, allowing you to give your views and thoughts on his struggles as he advocates for himself in the UK, European as well as the American & Canadian Health care systems. Each chapter runs for approx. 20 minutes and at the end of that 20 min includes a personal recording or music video by Ren from the timeline he reviewed in the chapter. 🤯🤯AMAZING STORY. It would make a fascinating movie in my opinion. ✌

From what I remember from another video Ren's dad Martin (who's a therapist in the UK) passed an interesting comment about how due to the budget cuts on the mental health side of the NHS nowadays most NHS support in respect of mental health is a overworked nurse with a check list. In cases like ren's where his mental health was the collateral damage of him being given psychiatric drugs due to a wrongful diagnosis people like him are slipping through the system. Another UK Therapist youtuber (therapistreacts) also said similar things, he even said "I hope im not guilty of this".
@The.Metal.Therapist

It can be like this, lots of reactive help and crisis support rather than therapy. We need to upskill our workforce more. There's a huge NHS imbalance between physical health resources and mental health resources... Such a shame 😢

The worst thing (I've heard) Ren say about his experience with a Doctor/Therapist was when he finally had medical proof that he had Lyme disease, he went to to find out about treatment options. He took his research to ask about and the doctor said they didn't recognize Lyme in the UK and told Ren he should consider getting a hobby.
@brucesaunders3528
@brucesaunders3528 3 күн бұрын
He spent 7 years trying to find his people, so many people. I believe it was someone who contacted him as they believed he may have Lyme disease. He was able to do this because of the platform he created through his artistry. People, as you say, will get lost in the system if their voice is not heard, it's scary to think of how many people just get fobbed off and ultimately lost.

I really LOVED your guest! Great commentary with a ton of value! Many of us have been there. I'd like to make a request that I think would fit beautifully with this channel. As we know, Ren's health has relapsed and he's been slowly recovering. A South African artist who recently started a new reaction channel took it upon himself to write a song for Ren to cheer him up and support him during his recovery, and he invited as many Renegades as possible to submit recordings of themselves singing and playing instruments to the hook. He mixed and produced it himself and it's taken him about a month to complete, but it just dropped last week. Ren saw it and commented that he loved it, and it's starting to blow up! I'd love a reaction to this song, it's called "Love's Healing" by Wynand Fourie ft. Renegades. I think the message would be a great addition to this channel. Thank you 🫶

100% in everything shared in the vid. "I need to get through TODAY!" not two-three weeks/months. Progression gets worse and more damage is done. REN is not only sharing our stories but advocating for us to stop being so formal and listen, comprehend, and go into action to help us. Health care is not for profit. Trying to make money off of health needs is unethical and sadly, a practice that is prevalent today as we grow sicker.

I was lucky to have a very caring doctor in Brighton. As soon as I told her my symptoms she got me an emergency appointment with a psychologist. She listened carefully to everything I said. She comforted me and within the almost 3 hours of that first meeting she suggested to the psychiatrist that I was suffering from DPDR. Psychiatrist confirmed the diagnosis and gave me meds. He did say that pills are not the answer and can lead to dependency instead of trying to find ways to help myself so I should try to not take them. He sent me back to the psychologist for weekly appointments for the next 5 months while still seeing him every 3 months over following year. When I went at first I was so sure that no one else had this condition. I'd never heard of it before. I thought they were going to put me in a padded cell once I told them everything but I felt safe immediately. It's such a pity Ren didn't go to my doctor. In the same city AND some of the same symptoms! Some doctors and therapists are just not cut out dealing with people at all

Love Ren reactions 😁 thanks for this! Something a little off topic but still please read through it! I am Bells and I wrote a song for Ren. And I wrote it not only from my point of view. I think many of you Renegades would feel seen too. This people who have listened until now showed me this in their lovely comments. And I am thankful for every single one of them 💚 Now I ask you to please give my Song for Ren a listen. I‘ve done it with full heart! If you like it please share it with other Renegades. And please tag Ren if you think it‘s worth it. It would mean so so so much to me! And I ask you not to give me a follow. This is not the important thing. But only for this song it would be so good if there would be a little more traffic. Thank you so much!!! And btw I know about the Song of Wynand Fourie (and he knows of mine) and I participated in the choir. I am the Girl from Germany. It is a lovely project. But I had my song nearly finished when Wynand came up with his idea and I still wanted to post it. It is no competition. Oh and one last thing. I know my video is not perfect. I was so nervous and I had simply not more time. So my talking is a little all over the place 😅 but I think the song is ok! Thank you so much if you give it a try! Only love 💚

First of all, love the reaction! It doesn't bother me at least about the pausing, it is a reaction video after all. As long as the person rewinds a bit so they don't miss anything it's all good by me. 15:28 Not only in that it's dark and a bit chaotic, but his realisation that he's doing the same as everyone else comes after he stands in front of the mirror taking a good hard look at himself. It is the second time he stands in front of the mirror, but I feel like that's realistic. First time I really reflected on parts of myself that I don't like I remember being quite dismissive "I'm not *as* bad as others", "I did it because of peer pressure, I wasn't enjoying it", and so on. But with time I saw some hard truths in myself and was able to choose to step away from the mess of a person I was in my teens. The first time Ren is in front of the mirror in this video is when he talks about feeling like he's drowning, and in makes sense that would be his first concern.

Ren has said that these are things he wished he could have said to all the oersonel he saw. He had such strong pai, brain fog and disassociation, from the Lyme disease and they would insist it was all caused by his mental issues rather than the other way around. They never did test him for pathogens, because Lyme was so rare. He was caught between a rock and a hard place. Gaslighted is real with chronic illness.

as a person with ASPD it was always amusing when going through therapy as therapists would go through the same exact loops that they would with normal folks that were capable of empathy. How unnerved they would get when you flipped off the cognitive empathy and started the counter analyzing because their worn out routines were done better by those before them. I went the REBT route because the CBT wasnt comprehensive enough. I had to figure out how to make rules that were without exploitable loopholes. The thrills came from how many days i could go without destroying somebody. How could i help others heal from people like me. The grip on the honor code and perfecting the process. engaging in personality with cluster b types is a slippery slope, but not showing some is dangerous. Those with ASPD will start analyzing the mask, deciphering the phrasal choices. Telling a range of stories till they get a touch of genuine empathy, then connect the dots and start telling the health care professional about their lives. A matured sociopath is a nightmare for mental health folks. To be effective you must be Authentic and Theraputic. Without the Authenticity you have nothing to desire. Its a failure of modern heathcare.

Nice reaction. I would suggest Robyn reacting to Hi Ren, too. It deals with a little more of his mental health backstory. In an interview he talked about the issues he has faced with the medical/mental health fields. In more Western medicine where it is heavily dependent on insurance coverage determining the level of care. Where the world/European model where there is ‘free’ healthcare the quality of care and how you are treated is often lacking. Kinda shitty where you get what you pay for… In the west it is expensive and only available to those who are fortunate enough to afford it. But where it is ‘free’ the quality of treatment is often lacking. I think that is kinda what you were talking about where the therapist was robotic and almost like she was diagnosing from a mental health cheat sheet. Instead of listening and actually trying to diagnose the real problem.

The pig in Ren's stuff is referring to greed, it's a reference to Orwell's Animal Farm where the animals fight for their freedom only for the pigs to take over as the greedy oppressors. Ren is trying to show that the medical system is just another greed-centric system.
@Optopopit
@Optopopit Күн бұрын
I'm not positive, but based on Ren's other work, I think the pig has multiple meanings. The surface metaphore of feeling like livestock in the medical system, and a deeper metaphor where the pig is a literal callback to Animal Farm.

@The.Metal.Therapist it wasn't really aimed your way , I've just had a long line of 20 years of said system based mental health places patronising me with the same questions, and the cold unrelatability. Even their high intensity therapy was nothing more than, "how have you been feeling in the last 14 days" never getting to the root of anything. Most places give up on me due to me outthinking and being too smart and complex for them. I'm not being stubborn with them at all. But when it gets to a point where I end up counselling the counsellor it gets a joke really.

This therapist sounds sketchy because seems to care too much about being unique and complaining about having to meet certain criteria a.k.a. standards during training. I'm all about finding unique approaches to therapy, but you're being trained in certain therapeutic modalities for a reason. They work. There's a saying in chess, first worry about getting a rating of around 2000, then you can start concerning yourself with your own style. In other words, get good, get competent, meet the standards that make a good chess player, and then differentiate yourself.

Works for who? Everyone is just getting worse and there are huge problems with the current system. As people have mentioned above, REN had to self diagnose with Lyme disease and still wasn’t treated like he knew what was wrong with his own body. I self diagnosed autism at 40 and when I told my psychiatrist they said they suspected autism and also adhd, I have been diagnosed with autism and am still to get my adhd diagnosis(due to ability to get diagnosed, not rejected or anything), oh and my psychiatrist couldn’t diagnose me because he could diagnose in Malaysia but Australia hadn’t accepted his credentials yet, the system wouldn’t allow him. The current system is too busy trying to treat issues instead of work out the cause.

As someone who's done the training I think you're misinterpreting her point, I think she was referring more to the point that because during training you have to do this it can come across as robotic and uncaring because you are thinking about hitting all the grading points, things you would do automatically aren't feeling as fluid because you have to be seen as deliberately doing them. It's the nature of the assessment not her therapy style.

I think it was the first lecture I had when studying psychology where the lecturer was talking about whether psychology is a science, he said most psychologists say yes, most scientists say no. At best it is a soft science, so I would be careful throwing the words scientifically proven. No I never finished my studies, but I did get HDs for two years until I suddenly didn’t, you know, because autism and adhd.
