I’ve heard people say the wolves are a representation of the duality of her own femininity. Hence the line “my cancer is sun and my Leo is moon” almost like in the day time she’s her sensitive and gentle cancer sun, but at night she becomes wild like her Leo moon.

I think the “meet me for coffee at the elementary school” might just be a metaphor to reuniting with her childhood friends and remembering their wholesome moments. It’s more sweet than dark, I feel the album has a nostalgic theme through it and focuses on happier moments rather than trauma as she’s done in her other work.

The part that always gives me chills is when she says “it’s never too late baby, so don’t give up” when the twister takes her up into the sky. I feel like it symbolizes fearlessness which you mentioned, or just riding out the hard times in life and accepting it for what it is, because she looks so relaxed when it’s happening. It resonates a lot with me. I came across this video while I was going through the darkest time in my life and this felt like such a breath of fresh air. I wasnt making the best choices in life, but I felt like it needed to happen so I could learn and grow and appreciate. I love her so much.

I love your comment about contradictory statements about country clubs but having chemtrails overhead. Or wearing jewelry in the swimming pool. I've never actually thought about it like that, but I think it also applies to the line "meet you for coffee, at the elementary schools." That's very clearly a contradictory statement as well because children aren't supposed to have coffee! I love the idea of this song being about contractions, and owning both sides of things because people can change and grow, and people are very large and contain multitudes! Love the video.

7:49 It is very interessting to hear stories of mothers and how they wanted to name their kids in the first place and didn't do it because of what others thought about it. I think you're spot on saying some of the symbolism is her leaving her "daddy issues" era. The clips with the dancing in the dirt are very reminiscent of the Ride music video except instead of dancing with old dunes and motorcycles, she is dancing with powerful women and wolves. I really like your thoughts on “meet me for coffee at the elementary school”. Personally, it reminded me of the other references she made in this time period to having a daughter. Sometimes in the fall, schools host meet-the-teacher-type events which fits with the line about the summer heat getting cooler. She was soo ready to enjoy the mundane events of parenthood like she had dreamed. Until the dream was ripped from her hands :(

Hey Mere, thanks for doing this! I personally tend to think about COTCC video as a sister video to Blue Banisters, with the general theme being healing with your sisters after a particularly bad breakup, just in a different way and... different vibe, so to speak. I really love how she creates a female universe in these clips (just like you said, no men in the "wild" wolf part), and the men that do exist here are close and safe: a glimpse of her brother Charlie, her keyboard player Byron, her dancer Alex's partner etc. But no love interest of Lana. I also love how in the end Alex-the-wolf climbs into bed next to her actual partner, the two other ladies lie together as if indicating a romantic relationship between them and Lana goes to bed alone. I find it kind of healing to her particularly knowing the story that you learnt in the end of your video

Your analysis are opening my mind, I mean, even as a fan, I've never thought about some things you're saying and discussing. Thanks for the videos!!!! ♥️
@gabrielmenezes5658 Жыл бұрын
it’s actually a reference to a book called Women Who Run With Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés, which is a compilation of myths of the wild woman archetype. in the music video for COTCC, she summons the archetype as an artistic representation of where she sees herself and women like her on the contemporary concept of woman, representing the duality she speaks about ever since NFR era and most recently on her post Question For The Culture, which is about how she doesn’t have to leave her delicate, sensible and emotional self to be a strong feminist, she is basically saying that nothing is black and white, you don’t have to be yk “stonehearted” and a 21st century “bad b*tch” in order to be a strong, powerful and independent woman. this relates to chemtrails in a sense that the poison on the trails aren’t literal, but figurative: media tricks, futile devices on the internet such as cancel culture, which became very shallow, etcetera.

I always saw this as a comment on duality, how at first you see someone like Lana, “privileged, wearing jewels and contained in a safe space such as a country club” where as if you scratch the surface of image you’ll find in reality she is free and wild, in her pack of sisters.
@stefanopederzolli4902 Жыл бұрын
I never thought as the chemtrails having a negative meaning in the song, but more as them contributing to the whole picture of childhood lightheartedness. Kids lying on the grass and watching chemtrails in the sky: she's still that same wild girl who used to run free and watch chemtrails.

Lana has been singing this song live on tour lately and she has added some shocking lyrics to the outro, this song references her ex-bf who really shook her life when they broke up named Sean. “He's born in December and got married when we were still together;” “He got married when we were in couple's therapy together;” “Sometimes I wonder what his wife would think if she knew.” So with this new knowledge added to the song maybe the Chemtrails were the fact that he was in a whole other relationship while with Lana, but to Lana everything seemed so idyllic like being at a country club. A&W is also about him too with the lines about being a side piece, and invisible

(Kind of long and sad comment so dont feel the need to read) It was one of my old friend's funeral the other day. They weren't someone i was very close to, but someone I liked hanging out with when I was in school and still cared about. They were one of my closest friends roommates too, so it still feels like a lot because I want to be there for them as well, ofcourse. I have a hard time with my emotions and feeling okay with feeling anything negative (thanks daddy issues lol). For a while I used things like alcohol to block negative feelings out, but I have been trying to stop because dont want to end up like some of my other family members and depend on it too much. I want to care about myself and my mental health properly. Your videos have helped me feel more okay with feeling vulnerable and upset, and I know they help many others too, thank you for making this channel. I myself think it's about global warming kinda like the greatest song she sings and umm let me also add what my husband thinks about he sent me a long message😂😂 Lana del rey video reminds me of Thundarr, the barbarian from the 1980s kid show. Thundarr lives in a dystopia of a ravage earth control by evil wizards and superscience. In the episode of Brotherhood of the night, werewolves going to the village town turn people into werewolves. They get rescued by dipping them in a pool of chemicals. The other reference to one of her songs is on season 2 of Thundarr "Prophecy of Peril." The power of three stated in the song. There are three women who must stop an evil wizard named Vashtarr. The wizzard traveled back to the 1980s to stop his fate, which was one of the women resides. The power of the three women stops the wizard. Each woman possesses a unique ability. Then, all three of them return to the 1980s to live.
