People saying i've stopped it too much. i received an email from the copyright holder this morning saying they don't agree this is fair use as I don't stop it enough! They want me to either stop it more often, or cut out the bits where I don't talk. It is also really sad to see such negative comments taking place here from fans of Lara.

It's not so much the stopping, as when you stop. You're familiar enough with music, aren't you, to recognise the end of a phrase? So... wait till the end of a phrase, a lyric, a chorus. There are natural pauses in a song; even in a Lara Fabian song - much as it may pain even the most ardent fan, we can admit that much. I think the main issue with anyone who complains about pausing isn't so much the frequency (unless s/he simply isn't familiar with the fair use necessities), but the jarring aspect of interrupting the song in the middle of a note, for example, or a word, if you will. It does take a little more concentration to wait until the singer finishes a phrase or, as in the example I gave in my comment, the a cappella section, but it makes for a much smoother experience for the viewer. I appreciated your observations very much. I just kept getting taken out of the experience by the choices you made vis a vis WHEN you chose to make them; it seemed random and haphazard, and the performance itself was made less enjoyable for it. (A criticism which may seem bizarre coming from someone who's seen this particular performance upwards of two hundred times - but there you have it, see the original definition of "fan." 🥴) I hope this doesn't come across as disrespectful. You seem taken aback or hurt by the comments complaining about the stoppages, and I thought I might expand on MINE, at least, to let you know what I meant by it. It was by no means a vitiation of your entire reaction video. To the contrary - if I didn't think there was worth in it, I wouldn't have bothered leaving a comment at all. Best, Maryscott

It's quite strange, I have seen lots of other reactions on the same video where reactors don't stop that much and they seem to be still online with no problem. Don't know how the YT algorithm work but that's sad they bother you with that.

@@steph7793it’s changed a lot over the years too, especially with them auto scanning every upload. So this one got scanned and notified me there was copyright content (expected), but then I get the email from the copyright holder (Tunecore) saying they’ve reviewed it and I’ve used too much of the original track to be considered fair use. To be honest I’m just going to delete is and not listen to any more Lara which is a shame.

“Je suis Malade”, now a french classic, was written by famous French singer & songwriter Serge Lama together with composer/singer Alice Dona in 1973. This is based on his own experience and he was the original performer, hence some lyrics are a bit male-oriented (eg my mother leaves me, whiskies, I pour my blood in your body, …). When Serge Lama had a dinner with Alice Dona and told her about his obsessive love that was leading to a road block, she came back home and composed the music in a couple of hours. The morning after, she presented him the music and he wrote the lyrics in … 20 minutes. Serge Lama was the original performer in 1973, it started to be promoted on the radio, and the song was brought to fame only when, a few months after, Dalida covered it. She was an absolute mega star in France, another emotional powerhouse, and this song resonated very much with her own feelings. Her success with this song transformed it into a french classic, and started to make it famous abroad. But it is Lara Fabian that really made this song a very popular song in many countries with her cover in the mid 90s. At that time Dalida had already passed away, but Serge Lama was (and is) still alive. Dalida and Serge were two inspirations for Lara, so she sent an audio copy to Serge of her version. She was unknown at that time in France but he was so impressed with her vocal skills and her emotions rendering that he invited her in France to sing it as a duet during his own Paris concert in January 1995. It was a triumph. So he sat in a front row seat and asked her to sing it again alone. Lara also had made some subtle changes to the song that gave it even more power. Serge and Lara became good friends and performed several other duets later on. More information on Lara Fabian: Lara is recognized as one of the best vocalist ever seen on earth and all professionals list her in the top vocalist tier with Barbra, Whitney, Mariah, Celine, Aretha, Shirley Bassey, Lisa Fischer, .... In my personal opinion, she is even the best. There are a few vocal characteristics that are her signature: her famous resonance for instance that allows her to sing acapella without mic in venues with 10,000+ attendees. Her nickname in the singing world is "the ring" due to this. I would also list her amazing phrasing, breath management and her pleasant tone even when belting in her upper register. So she is one of the best vocalist ever, but on top of that, she adds a few things that make her an absolute package with no equivalence: • she speaks 2 languages natively (french, italian), and 2 others fluently (english, spanish), can speak a bit of dutch (and sicilian), and understand quite well russian and portuguese. She has sung in 12 languages in total • she is an amazing songwriter and wrote lyrics for 200+ songs, in the 4 languages she speaks fluently. French speaker here!! I love this song and love to see foreigners react to it! I'd say the boat and flag analogy means that she can't escape, everytime she considers going somewhere far from them, they end up being the destination of the trip, or it's their "boat", meaning she'd have to depend on them even in order to get away. Also, "parfaitement" can indeed be translated by "perfectly" but in this context, it's a way to insist on what's just been said, to convey "this is the actual truth". So, "yes, I *am* sick, this is the truth", and not "I'm sick in a perfect way". Actually, I think the best translation for this expression in this context would be "you heard me right".

Hello i'm French. Thanks for sharing your experience with this beautiful song wrote in the 70.. by a song-writer and singer Serge Lama (he composed the music) and Alice Dona wrote the lyrics for him. The song was a response to a heart broken after 2 years of a pasionated love story, between Serge Lama and a women, who was married but renonced to leave her husband. So, french language can be very poetic and some words have many meanings. "Parfaitement" means "perfectly" but also "absolutly"..."entirely"...is ut more clear ti you ? Serge Lama's father was an opera singer, he travelled a lot and his wife wanted to follow him anytime....the young boy Serge stayed alone durind the tour.

Cette chanson fait référence à une douloureuse rupture amoureuse après 2 années de passion entre Serge Lama et une femme mariée, qui refusait de quitter son mari pour suivre et épouser Serge Lama. La langue française peut être très poétique, et les auteurs utilisaient des métaphores, des images pour décrire des sentiments, des situations. Si vous ne connaissez pas Serge Lama, écoutez ses chansons (certaines très nostalgiques) comme "Le ballon rouge", qui font référence à son enfance. Fils d'un chanteur d'opérette Serge Lama se retrouvait seul les nuits car sa mère, très amoureuse et jalouse, suivait son mari lorsque son mari travaillait dans les théâtres....une référence que l'on trouve dans la chanson "Je suis malade" : "quand la mère sortait le soir, et qu'elle me laissait seul avec mon désespoir" (texte original). This is a cover of a 1973 song by Alice Dona. I am so gld that you have discovered the imitable Lara Fabian who is master of bringing emotion into her music. She was born in Belgium to a Belgian father and Italian mother but lives mainly in Canada. She is an inspiration to many, including Dimash and is fluent in six language and performed in almost 20.

I watch all of the KZbin reactions to Lara as she is my favorite French artist. Yours is one of my favorite commentaries, so thanks for the psychological analysis (I teach French and argumentative essay writing, so I enjoy a deeper way of looking at performances such as Je Suis Malade). For me, as a bilingual French/English speaker, "parfaitement malade" in this context means that the being sick is all encompassing (In grammar, the "perfect" tenses mean that they are a finished idea, so being perfectly sick would mean that it is a done deal, couldn't be any more complete. Also, the "all boats carry your flag" phrase means that everything (not just literal boats) reminds her of him, to the point where she can't go anywhere or do anything without feeling trapped by his presence in her thoughts. parfaitement malade should have been translated in absolutely sick or completely sick, It's a way to emphasize. Also while malade would usually be understood as being physically sick it can also be used to exclaim when someone does or says something completely unhinged : Mais tu es malade ! Said in much the same tone she used towards the end when she said : c'est ça je suis malade more in a speaking voice than singing. As for the mother she "sortait le soir" would mean she went out at night to party or something similar, so her mom went out at night and left her alone it reads more like neglect.

The author of the lyrics and first singer of this song, Serge Lama, was married to his press secretary Daisy Brun in an open marriage. Then he met Anne Michelle Poitier who would later become his second wife. But Anne Michelle herself was married too. At the time they fell in love Anne Michelle pursued a singing career in French speaking Northern Africa so they had little time to spend together. Serge Lama realized that he is not capable to lead an open marriage, so somehow this song is not only about unlucky love, but also about adultery and unresolved childhood issues. When Serge Lama spoke with his friend Alice Dona he told her that this situation made him sick. Alice wrote a melody and gave it to him and he then wrote the lyrics. His record company didn't want to publish a single record about sickness, but they added it to his next album. Later Dalida, an Egyptian-Italian singer covered the song and it was a big success and so it became a French classic.

There is a girl in The Netherlands that reminds a lot of people of Lara Fabian. She's only 15y old in the video I'll mention below (currently she's 16y). @@Connection_through_Reaction I think the point is there are hundreds of versions of this song that we are very aware of and while we completely understand the rules and regulations of KZbin, there are many ways to go through the songs and still be compliant, minimizing the number of pauses. There are reactors that do not get altered stopped cut out by KZbin that go completely through a song and then comment after the song is over. I personally prefer something in between maybe two or three pauses with analysis afterwards. Others may have their preference. I just think that’s a good balance, by the way, your analysis was fantastic.

A "reaction" video carries with it the implication that you would talk about how the song/artist is making you feel emotionally, or the quality of the voice and/or performance. The lyrics play a big role if the song is an original. To bring a psychoanalytic perspective into that is gross, crass and just plain weird!
