All of his photographs were never used, I’m sure these would be worth hundreds of thousands now for publication. Because of his position in the military and the fact that he should not have been there, he kept them. I have never seen anything on Mussolini or his girlfriend that was so graphic. Truly historic.

My father's family is Italian. Being Italian, he had a very large extended family. During the war, half of them sided with Il Duce and half knew a loser when they saw him. It created a rift in the whole multi-generational family. It was intense and violent at times. There were murders, arson attacks and all manner of brawls. My father and his like minded family members saw the writing on the wall and decided to flee to Canada right when Mussolini came to power. They all stayed together and braved the constant U-boat attacks crossing during the very peak of the battle of the Atlantic. They arrived in Ontario and put down roots. The family feud still exists to this day. And here I am, one of their descendants.

Another case of dictators getting their just desserts is Samuel Doe in Liberia. He was captured by his opponents and videoed as his ears and then fingers were cut off (he was at one point forced to try and eat his fingers). After 12 hours of torture (much of it videoed) he was executed. His naked remains, covered in cigarette burns, had it's head shaved and was put on public display on the streets of Liberia's capital Monrovia.
@theravenseye94435 ай бұрын
!!!!!!!! When was this?
@efnissien5 ай бұрын
@@theravenseye9443 This was 1990, a particularly turbulent period in the region. The video was doing the rounds on the internet for a while during the 'wild west ' era of early internet video sharing. It isn't particularly pleasant viewing, (and yes, I have seen the 'edited highlights') Doe was captured by Prince Yormie Johnson, leader of one of the factions in the countries civil war led by Charles Taylor (currently Taylor is residing in HMP Frankland in the UK, convicted of warcrimes and crimes against humanity) can be seen sipping a beer as Does ears are cut off (in context, it was to demonstrate that Doe wasn't protected by black magic) and female 'soldiers' taunt Doe. Doe had been captured by Johnson's men in the headquarters of the ECOMOG peacekeeping force. Johnsons forces drove in to the compound, disarming and executing Doe's entourage one by one outside. Doe expressed concern to the Gambian ECOMOG commander, who assessed the situation, then took cover, leaving Doe to his fate. Johnsons men entered the building, executing any remaining members of Doe's party and shooting Doe in the leg, before taking him away to be tortured and killed. 80 members of Doe's party had been killed and not a single member of the Gambian force was injured. While Taylor initiated the civil war, Johnson now decided he wanted to run the show and this led to the 'second civil war' which was based on warring tribal and ethnic factions, leading to a seven way civil war. In a later truth and reconciliation commission it was recommended that Johnson be barred from holding any governmental posts. As of 2023, he was re-elected a senator. This is a guy who had a reputation for volatility and sadism against those who dared challenge his authority. It's a seedy and sordid period and a lot of the violence is intertribal / magical belief based.

This is what worries me and it's something groups like antifa, BLM, extreme LGBTQ groups never seem to understand. The majority of people who support these groups just want equality but like any other group the f***wits shout the loudest. In time the msg portrayed goes from one of equality to one of us vs them. Not long after that many people who previously supported them find out their thought of as an enemy and resentment grows and grows. The end result is some right evil bastard like il dulce, Hitler, Amin I mean pick your favourite dictator comes along and says " We need to sort these people out and I'm the one to do it!"

This is reactionary to equivalent outrage and hence expectable, so I accept. (BEWARE of false belief!) What better should be 'the' default goal? ZERO OUTRAGE! We humans' seeming FATAL FLAW is insistence on the attempted confounding of the boss, Mother Nature, this causing us to 'never learn,' and so risking being flushed down The Tube of Failed Natural Experiments, to where many billions before us have consigned. Ours is a very, very stiff-necked species, taking pride in possessing way too little knowledge of Reality, which monotheist mysticism (The Grand Trifecta of Delusion) sells hard by that old reliable combo: emotion and fear.

I saw a film with George C Scott , and also a report by SS officers on how he was captured that showed the partisans basically negotiated him into their hands by using a common sense approach. We don’t want to fight and kill your men to get to his lousy soul, just point him out and on. The Germans in full retreat basically weighed the options and said he’s all your’s to the partisans. He was thrown to the wall by partisans and shot not in a gracious way along with his mistress the accounts stated along with eyewitness. He went out ugly.

I am a human being, but occasionally, I allow myself to step aside for such people. Barbaric behaviour is punching low, but for such people in history, I'll take a pass. Making this a brutal, but highly enjoyable story. It's a shame that we are more civilised now, when it comes to dealing with the most inhumane. I'm sure there are many today, who wouldn't mind the odd Esso revival meeting being booked for others. Gaddafi and Hussein certainly ended up in holes, before their graves. Fitting for rats. Even Hitler didn't quite manage the dignified self deletion he envisaged. Had he chosen Esso too, he might not have gone out too early, and ended up a half done job, also in a wet hole.

My mother’s uncle was with pattons tank division and left us pictures of Mussolini hanging upside down in the town square after his execution. When he returned from the war he went out into the woods to an old hunting camp where he lived alone in isolation for over a year. When he came out he never spoke of what he’d lived thru and went on to operate a successful dairy farm until his passing.
