Borrowed your set up, more or less. Putting the 380 Velineon in my Mini 8T with a 60amp Leopard after burning two Fuze motors. Bought on eBay from a dude who said he ran nothing but 3s and had been to the track 5 times with it...I ran it 30 seconds on 3s and it smoked. Replaced with another Fuze and ran 2s...kept thermaling out after 5 laps. Eventually got too hot. Hopefully the Velineon can handle 2s track time...running stock gearing w/ hardened pinion and steel spur, btw. Not sure I'll try 3s...

You mentioned below in the comments, if you knew you were going with the Traxxus engine, you would have gone with the Mamba Micro Pro....could you post a link to which one you are referring to? Thanks! Great videos!
nice looking setup need to get that motor into mine haha

Zachary Flowe The VXL motor is an easy fix even with the stock esc
@Digitalfiendscom10 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking of picking up a Mini 8ight T or an E-Revo VXL for my young daughter and me to play with; she really enjoys working on mechanical projects with dad, so this upgrade series of yours is quite helpful. I used to be into RC cars when I was in my teens but haven't touched them in probably 20 years - things have changed quite a bit lol. I like the idea of upgrading to a bigger motor and ESC as I don't like running things on the ragged edge. I do have a question though: would the ESC that comes in the E-Revo be a good fit for this car? Living in Canada, we don't have a huge selection of hobby shops (brick and mortar or online) that carry some of the more specialized parts. Shipping from the US can be costly with the conversion rate, duty, and brokerage. So getting the Velineon motor with VXL-3M controller might be an easier option. Is this even possible? What do you think of the 8ight T vs the Revo VXL? Thanks!
@TheRCNetwork10 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one considering all the factors. The E-revo vxl 1/16th (MERV) def has the part support and aftermarket vs the Losi. The MERV also is super easy to work on. The MERV's motor and esc would easily fit in the M8T as well with some slight modification including changing the Spur and pinion.
@Digitalfiendscom10 жыл бұрын
The RCNetwork Thanks. I'm finding it really difficult to decide. I like what I'm seeing with regards to handling from the mini 8ight-T but the Revo vxl seems like it is a bit easier to work on (as you said), might be a bit more versatile in the wet/snow/tall grass, and it has two battery compartments for extended running time (or more power), etc. Both cars seem like they need upgrades to be reasonably durable though. I'd buy one of each but if I find I like getting back into RC cars, I'd rather put the money I'd spend on a second mini into a full-size 8ight or revo. Decisions, decisions... Did you ever do a video of the 8ight-T running with all the upgrades from this series? Thanks again.

carson borden As of this comment, the only CF upgrades are the Losi towers/battery strap. Xtreme Racing just hit the market with shock towers and I know that Exotek is working on a chassis/topplate.

The RCNetwork I'm gonna get that motor and also the lost 1/10 scte 130amp esc from dollar hobbies for like half price and the motor so like 100 bucks for boh of them what pinion would you use for it with a 2s pack for this esc and motor?

how is this car running? also this esc is out off stock where ever i look. How exactly do i know if i can run a 380 can on a 10th scale esc?
@TheRCNetwork9 жыл бұрын
Jordan Perez It's a standard Hobby Wing 80amp ESC re-badged as a Leopard Hobbies. The M8T is doing well after the upgrade series
@J93perez9 жыл бұрын
One more question if you can answer for me. I ordered the 16t pinion like yours as well as the spur. How well is that gearing on your 3s Lipo? Or even on your 2s Lipo? I'm scared to over heat the car again. I have everything u have besides the exact battery. I have a 2s coming in the male. I may be running short course truck wheels and tires and I may need to re gear it. But couldn't find a smaller pinion from Robinson
@TheRCNetwork9 жыл бұрын
Jordan Perez On the 16t, a 2s is totally fine. on 3s, watch the temps........Not sure I would run SCT tires
@trevorsteeves618810 жыл бұрын
Would you use the mamba micro pro motor and esc? Or would the motor be to small?
@TheRCNetwork10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the motor is almost smaller than the stock Fuse motor. Not a good combo for the M8T
@trevorsteeves618810 жыл бұрын
What were your other choices for the esc? And where did you buy the leopard hobby motor and esc?
@TheRCNetwork10 жыл бұрын
I got the Leopard stuff from AsiaTees. The ESC was $50, which isn't too bad for the 80amp/waterproof features. Originally, I hadn't intended on running the Traxxas Motor, but didn't want to put too much custom work into the M8T for other people that wanted to run the same upgrades. If I had it to do over again, the Mamba Micro Pro would be my choice for an ESC for the Traxxas motor
