As of September 2023, the FAA is going to have every drone with a remote ID beacon but any drone under 250 g does not have to be registered with the FAA but they still say not to fly out of line of sight that should always be the case the FAA says if you have a drone with a camera your mission of your flight should always be flying for recreational purposes only that I understand people have a fear of drones that have cameras on them

Since I don't rely on an app to fly very much, I thought it was safe for me to purchase this. It flies great and photos are OK, but the app disconnects continually for me so that even with just wanting to check the drone's view occasionally is next to impossible. I use an Android tablet. Don't even own a smart phone. Holy Stone told me that tablets don't connect as well as phones. Thank you for a great review. I'm happy enough with the drone that I'll probably keep it but should have taken your advice on checking out the other drone you mentioned.

This is a really great drone. I purchased one in maybe Sept/Oct 2022 for $209. The default app from Holystone is the problem (losing signal, crashing, etc...); M RC Pro app works much better in my opinion. The drone is fantastic from the $200 price point though and so much fun. Only issue I have is that the 30 min flight time is more like 20 mins cause once it gets to this point, youre automatically limited on range and height and it starts acting a little wonky.

I just got off the phone with the FAA. According to them Holy stone is trying to get its fleet into compliance but they formatted some paperwork wrong or something. Holy Stone's explanation is unsettling though. Just know theres a chance this drone wont meet the remote ID requirements in time.

Losing signal is my issue with HS720G as well especially when flying near transmission/power line or cell phone towers. I was watching another drone user that advises to position the controller antenna "Upward" the flat face is facing the drone instead of pointing to the drone. I did not noticed any cell towers, transmission/power lines while your flying and still lost signal. Is it HS720G radio signal issue? 🤔

The price of Dji is justified, looking it the footage my 3 axis gimbal on my mavic mini makes and then looking at this I’d have the upper hand when filming cinematic footage because you really have to try making slow and smooth yaw axis turns because you don’t have the 3th axis so your footage on that drone looks more snappy and that takes away a lot of the cinematic quality

Looks pretty average, but for the price? That is the only reason I probably wouldn't get this drone. Looks like it would be a great fun drone and it flies well but the video is just not quite up there. But hey, for the price what could you expect? Set the wifi to 20mhz. Newer phones will default to 80/160mhz which limits range 80% less than 40mhz. And yeah, mobile data can interfere with the wifi signal so turn it off.
