(Replying here) I think simply the gameplay of Triple Trouble is the best it has been in a 2D Sonic fangame. I do agree that BTS/ATS, Fallen Star, Megamix Mania, and quite a few one or two zone short demos such as Legends, Overture, and Galactic look better - along with Spark 1 and Freedom Planet 2 also have more impressive visuals, so it's well outside even the top five fan or Sonic-esque projects in regards to how good looking or stylish it is, and so I agree it isn't worth the hype on that front specifically, but I've yet to find a finished 2D Sonic fangame that I think gets the 2D Sonic gameplay or story integration as engaging (that said I haven't played the demos I mentioned).

1:35 I also think Megamix Mania and Triple Trouble 16 Bit are pretty peak fangames and I think Triple Trouble's better than Fallen Star in every aspect besides the art direction (though I'm aware you were less impressed in general)

Yeah, triple trouble isn't necessarily bad. Perse, I was just having a hard time seeing what al the hype was about since everyone was gushing about it .
