+Chrischi3LPs you mean in general? I don't think so. The 7 Ls of "longing", "Lord" etc. of the refrain bring this sweet longing to life. Those sounds are lacking in the german translation. "...dich zu sehn", can such a phrase be compared to: "for you to reveal yourself to us"?.

@@ranranshi I know, nice necro, but looking back, part of why i preferred the german version is probably that my towns pastor has a voice that puts many an opera singer to shame. Just take a listen: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIWpZHyqodWXn8U And he's not even giving it his all, not even remotely. When he does, he can easily crush a choir and an orchestra against the nearest wall. Id love to show you his performance as d'Artagnan from the time he put a 3 Musketeers musical on stage, but sadly, there doesnt seem to be any recording of it.
