Excellent chess problem. It took me a while to find it. For a 2 mover with only 7 pieces it is very hard. This mate in 2 is one of the most difficult that has been published here recently. It took me minutes to find the solution!

I got it after 10 minutes of trying the other moves. I enjoy the challenge of these puzzles.

There is a second version by the same author (Josef de Koning): White king on b2, white queen on c2 with the same solution.

Oh my. I really over thought that one. Who knew a king could be so slippery. 😅

The key is you have to stop the K from going to G7, and there are only 3 moves that can stop it

I only realised I was going to solve it when I concentrated on getting the pawn to move off the file the queen was on. It's then I knew I was on to something. But before that it took ages. It was a difficult puzzle for me but I loved cracking it.

Pleased I found the solution to this one! It did take several minutes trying most of the other moves first, though.

Easy. Took me about 5 seconds to solve. KG5 to E6...black has only one legal move to counter (pawn to G5. This freezes black King). Next, Queen to A8 ..checkmate!

I wonder that sometimes you explain the wrong traps starting from a check, and definitely you know that a good and correct two moves task NEVER STARTS FROM A CHECK! So why do you do this? This time, solution took a bit longer to me...
