The F1 games are full of people spinning the cars in MP in the early stages of the game, just need to learn where you can hit the pedal harder and where you have to ease it on, then find the limits before wheelspin or snaps occur. Great race Dave
@stuffeyy2 жыл бұрын
Yes Dave!! Come to the F1 darkside 😂 In fairness to you this car is more difficult to drive than the W12. The extremely cold tyres at the start make things that much harder. Be good to see you in a few races in the future if you feel brave enough again.
@luizhdcosta2 жыл бұрын
Regarding the tires going away in 8 laps, it makes sense since they are softs, and you had a few moments that were not very kind to them, with spins and lock ups. And since we don't see temperatures in the overlay, they might have overcooked a few times. Take this analysis with a grain of salt though, from the point of view that I'm a huge F1 nerd so I'm comparing to real F1, but I haven't raced with the iRacing version of the car.
@AleksandrRudiak2 жыл бұрын
you can switch the steering wheel screen to "warmup" page and there will be live core temperatures and surface temperatures and surface temps are going to 200C really quick as soon as you do any mistake
@brettgrieves2 жыл бұрын
The W13 in iracing is way harder to drive than the w12 from the last sason. Tyre temps make a massive difference, you start off with 70c tyres and not 90c so warm up is important. Its going to be really interesting seeing how everyone gets on during the first season in iracing.

"Is he on a gamepad?" The ultimate sim racing insult
@MikeSwannick2 жыл бұрын
I got into sim racing because i realised it was the nearest thing i would ever get to driving an F1 car. I was so excited when i fired up F1 2015 at Monaco (my then dream car/track combo) for the first time. What a shit show that turned out to be and still is to this day. It left me with sim PTSD. With experience I've ventured back to open wheelers and formula cars with AC but it definately needed much more sim skill than i had back then. I did stick with the F1 series but it has been a battle of attrition.
@AdrianJSClark2 жыл бұрын
Nicely done, Dave! The loss of grip may have been heat related after your spin. Once you cook these tyres they tend to stay that way, unfortunately. Even if the temps come back down the grip doesn't necessarily return. Great job overall, though. Nothing wrong with a top 5 finish.
@LukeVesty2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, great to see you have a punt in this car but I promise you it isn’t always a spin fest lottery. Once the regulars start to get to grips this series will be fierce and precise up front with few errors. If you persisted you’d be one of the quick guys as well. Like any car it takes commitment to get used to the high-power open wheelers. The W12 was a bit too easy but the W13 is a lot less forgiving.

You need to upshift faster brother! You don't really want to be feathering the throttle either on the F1 cars, off the gas fully, downshift to where you need to be, steady for the corner then full throttle on the exit once you feel your rear gripping up, losing a lot of time on that, I think its cause of your experience with other classes where it is actually very useful to do so. Get some practise in mate, open wheel racing is awesome!

They are great cars to hotlap, and if I had a league with a grid full of experienced, respectful drivers, it might be fun to race them. However, when you factor in netcode, connection lag, fast closing speeds, and drivers who don't respect those things, then the racing becomes a shit show. You did quite well though! I'm sticking to F4 and F3, myself.
@550LMS2 жыл бұрын
I much prefer the Williams F1 car for hotlapping...these hybrids just run out of juice so quickly or in management mode it becomes pretty boring quickly. The laptimes are too reliant on whatever the hybrid system is set to. I really wish iracing put the Williams in with the W13 races...
@angryginger7912 жыл бұрын
@@550LMS That's a good point. Same for the LMP1's and the new BMW hypercar. Although, the active reset feature should come in handy.

Starting first gear with the engine at idle. When the lights change to green, roll into the throttle and almost immediately shift into second apply more throttle to about 50% and then immediately shift into third at more throttle to 75% or so and grab fourth in by then you should be able to flat foot. Alternatively, start on Pitt lane. Each time I start in the pits, I can usually get onto the podium. There are just that many crashes.
@noahhaynes19172 жыл бұрын
Needs alot of practice and knowing when to use the throttle etc. but I am so confident for this upcoming season after just driving this around Fuji this whole week 13. The throttle management is really interesting and fun for me in these cars. Gonna give it a proper try.

I don't like driving modern f1 cars in sim because they're too cumbersome through low speed, and because they removed tc after the v10 era you have to just sit there and wait to get fully on power, it just feels terrible, the f2004 in AC is much nicer to drive imo

@Hardcaslte2 жыл бұрын
My only problem with watching these races that makes it not really interesting is once the down force comes on strong you just keep it floored and who cares because it sticks. You're railing half the course in 7th gear with the gas at 100% and it's just not interesting. Driving them can definitely be more fun, to me that effect of just holding the pedal down is still there, but when you've been driving GT3/GTE cars or whatever else, the speed with an F1 can be fun to mess with for an hour. But for watching it's just not as interesting, there isn't a lot of pedal control outside of slow corners, you aren't managing crazy braking and throttle at the same time or getting loose on the S corners while hitting the brakes slowing down on each one, etc. I'm not saying just stick with GT3, but "slower" cars are just more interesting to watch in my opinion. Maybe it's just Silverstone and I'm talking a bunch of crap, who knows.

Do you play iracing? Because the graphics are the least of the concerns, they're good enough. The physics are the number 1 priority then tracks and cars. Graphics don't make or break a game
