For Australia, it is simply. Get the best cars at the lowest price. They have no concerns over protecting domestic car makers.
@kenbehrens57787 күн бұрын
Perry as we don't have any car manufacturing in Australia all 1.2 million new cars bought each year here are imported. In 2018 Chinese made cars captured 0.9% of ne car sales. In 2023 15.9% of the new cars sales is from Chinese built cars. Tesla, BYD, MG, GWM and others all made in China.
@amjedali51644 күн бұрын
@@kenbehrens5778 Finally a comment that is 100% correct on the figures. Keep in mind our so-called car industry was making the cars here yet all the profits going to the US and Japan. Every other country requires joint ventures e.g. Thailand, India, Pakistan, Malaysia and so on when it comes to manufacturing cars. While the US car makers Holden and Ford got billions of taxpayers funded subsidies and still no one wanted their products as soon as other options where available. I will guarantee you in 2024 it will surpass 20% of all cars sold are Made in China.

My next car will definitely be a Chinese EV. Exclusive of USA and its vassals (for "national security concerns"), there is a growing global demand for Chinese EVs
@2GlobalMarkets8 күн бұрын
The collaboration between China and Australia in critical minerals is indeed vital. China's role in technology transfer and investment has been significant, and the high quality of their EVs is impressive. As Australia relies on imported vehicles, the presence of Chinese EVs is beneficial for consumers. The removal of trade impediments on products like wine and barley is a positive step, and hopefully, the issues with lobster trade will be resolved soon. The evolving dynamics of these relationships are indeed noteworthy 🙂💚

Buyers in Australia realize that US high tariffs just prove Chinese evs are great product so that US can't compete and have to put 100% tariffs to help US brands to survive

Australia provides majority of the raw materials used in Chinese EV production. If US & EU want to stop the "overcapacity", they should consider shutting down the mining operations down under.

@@kevinlin4895 nah, it's a bit risky to buy such an expensive car early on when the after market service network might still be in progress. start off with more modest models, which will have larger volume, would be prudent.
