Which was your favourite, the Bloom or the Distortion? Drunk Beaver's Full Pedal Collection - elkqr.link/dz9vk
@jprestonian7 ай бұрын
I liked both, really. I think the DS megaclone might be more useful to me. Either would probably need light gating.

Amptweaker's Fat Rock Distortion of course.

I like both but, if I were to buy one it'd likely be the Bloom.

Clearly, I must make myself known as one to calculate tonal options! Bloom: 4 Modes * 3 Voices * 3 Fatnesses = 36 Tonal Options Distortion: 8 Modes * 3 Mid Choices * 2 Op-Amp Choices * 2 Muff Choices = 96 Tonal Options

That's a great review Andy! I've spent a lot of time with both of these pedals and it's rather impossible to choose what I like more. The fuzz on the Bloom is phenomenal and one of the best fuzz sounds I've ever heard, but then again its warm overdrive tone is amazing as well. The Distortion is ideal for what its name says but also the muff side on it is brilliant and has such great clarity for a muff style tone.

For the past few months, i've been regretting the fact that i have 'enough' pedals, and no matter how many new demos i watch, i hadn't been able to find anything that i want or need. Until now. I think that BLOOM is inspiring. And the Distortion/DS-1 is making me want to figure out if the DS-2 i have is actually more useful than i previously assessed. Good stuff. Another nice video. You have an infection charm and effusiveness-good stuff. Ooh-thought i was already subscribed, as your videos come up in my feed so frequently, but no. That has been corrected.

The Bloom, set as you had it (Fat, Silicon, Fuzz) with the gain almost full, and a guitar tuned to B would just make you lose control of your bowels. That right there is worth the price tag alone!
@adamstein93337 ай бұрын
Wow!!!! I was “pedaled” out and thought I was done with My board until seeing this brand! Incredible circuits and not to badly priced. With a IR box, You really start understanding the frequencies and tonal variations of any pedal especially dirt Boxes. For instance a DS1 and say Mooer Radar, You can really get any setting

Vitalii makes some of the best pedals around. I have the Disambiguation, Bat Cold War, Fat Bat, Bloom, and a few of his pedal drops. They all sound great! You should definitely try his Bat pedals!

The standard Bat is also excellent. I opted for it instead of the Cold War. Both have the LM308, but the OP07 on the standard Bat is far better than what's in a current production rat, and works surprisingly well with al the mode settings. Such a great builder!

Hmmm on the math side Bloom 10³ x 4 x 3² Distortion 10³ x 8 x 3 x 2² Assuming the rotating pots have 10 distinct levels rather than analoguely continuous And a wonder? Leaving Distortion level at 9-ish? Might that have swamped other settings? Bloom is my favorite 🙂

I've had a Hoverla treble booster for a couple of months, and got a Taras Bulba V2 Fuzz the other week. Great stuff. I essentially always have the Hoverla engaged for anything clean or blues dirty, and the Taras Bulba is just... insane. And almost noiseless even at absurd levels of fuzz.
@robertdonosobuchner31297 ай бұрын
The Bloom is my favorite. Just put a drive pedal (overdrive or Rat) in front of the Bloom. I do something similar for my doom and heavy sounds. Try also some high gain settings. Really great pedals, they sound very good.

@oscarsanchez29829 күн бұрын
I saw the title, and I wanted to hate on the video. Cause these are not cheap overdrive/distortion pedals, that being said, they sound fantastic. Like really good. And i would argue the value is the variety of sounds each can produce. If they made a version that had midi and presets, I would have to buy one.

How noisy is the Bloom? I've used a few Expandoras in the past and they tend to be a little noisy as a circuit. Wish more people did DS-1 inspired pedals.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but... why not buy a ToneX One, instead of either of these?
@TheGuitarGeek7 ай бұрын
Not a dumb question. The TONEX one is superb but you have to capture every setting on both Pedals to give you full flexibility basically the Tone one will not replace stomp boxes but will enhance a rig.

@akwamarsunzal7 ай бұрын
The HUGE problem is that, yeah, they sound good. How the hell are you going to change settings, on stage, in near total darkness? Home use pedals at best! They would be a nightmare gigging! Better get yourself individual pedals for each job than be looking for that tone you need for the next song, on stage, in the dark! Hmmmm Great idea, impractical for a gigging musician
@TheGuitarGeek7 ай бұрын
How dark are the stages you play on? I would have no issue changing settings on these like any other pedal I have

@@TheGuitarGeek DARK! Too fiddly to bother with! I got a drive pedal, I got a distortion pedal, I got a fuzz pedal. 3 knobs, on/off.... Its all you need 🙂
@MindtheGAS7 ай бұрын
These are actually 3 knob pedals if you don't mess with the mode switch and the toggle switches. Whatever you would do with any other 3 knob pedal, you can do with those and they offer a ton of tone shaping options. I can't see what's so awful about that. Heck, for that price, you can get two of them so that you don't have to tweak them live.
@akwamarsunzal7 ай бұрын
@@MindtheGAS Hmmm there are actually 4 knobs on the pedals but lets not split hairs eh 🙂 If you want to utilise all of the features during a live gig you then have the switches to deal with as well as the 4 knobs. I am just saying that, for me, they would not be practical in a live situation.
