I had a Dad like yours. He introduced my brother and I to Rockhounding at a very young age. I am now 67 years old and still go out rockhounding and exploring almost every weekend! Your narration was clear and informative and your respect to leave artifacts right where you found them is appreciated. The way you climb rocks you must be part mountain goat! Have fun be safe!👍 I subscribed

I’m not sure what’s most impressive. That you were able to climb that route, the LNT messages you put in your videos, the info you share or the videography and editing skills. Great to see younger generations interested in the outdoors. Keep up the good work.

Impressive. This fortified archaeological site is really different and extreme. It's in an area full of difficult access sites but this one defies explanation even compared to the others.
@ruinsandridges2 ай бұрын
It does defy explanation, lots of hilltops around there also have ruins, this one would have been a great lookout, but I was surprised to also find pottery sherds right on top. It is 500 foot climb from one creek, and 700 foot climb from another creek. The climb would not be easy to make on a daily basis.

I have never seen a black walnut in the west, i’m in California desert and I never knew they were here. I learn something on this channel every time I watch.
@ruinsandridges2 ай бұрын
Yes, they are very common in the washes and canyons, and along creeks of the higher elevations. Some are extremely large, with thousands of black walnuts on the ground. Lots of wildlife feed on them.

This one is not in New Mexico, it is Arizona, but yes, there are many many places off the beaten path everywhere.

my boss at a nursery gave me a bucket of black walnuts to huck once. took me two hours. my hand was black for weeks from the acid afterwards. not just black. it was crisp and cracked all the way through the skin in parts. they do made good ice cream :)
@ruinsandridges2 ай бұрын
My mom made nocino drink from unripe black walnuts, and had black hands from cutting them for at least a month. 🤣

The flanks of that volcanic plug were washed away by the same waters that denuded the slopes of Tsé Bitʼaʼí, or Ship Rock, circa the end of the 22nd Century BC, when massive amounts of water poured into the Four Corners region, remaining there for almost 3 millennia. The people who first ventured into the virgin land, afterward, were the Fremont People, who would become the Anasazi, before "disappearing" (the water ran out). It's a fascinating story, of survival against great odds, and titanic forces at play.

It's a relativity small tree truck, from as in the days of Noah. Devils Tower is a better example. This one has been washed with huge amounts of water before petrification. This planet is the story of fantasm.

Hectoring your audience is unpleasant to listen to. And your bossy attitude is unproductive because many people will ignore your rules because they don't like your tone. Just saying...
