Can I use either "is there a" or "is there any" for asking a question with a singular noun?

Any is used with uncountable nouns. For example, Is there any soap available?

When we say 'a bar of soap' then we can count it, but when we just say 'soap' then it's uncountable. It's uncountable because we can use a little or a lot. It depends on the person using it. That's the same for toothpaste, butter, water, sugar ... I'm doing a live stream lesson in about an hour (5pm Japan time 2/12) and if you are available, ask me more about countable and uncountable nouns
