They should take advantage of the fact that the rival rounds can be loaded at nearly any position. If they made wackier designs that wouldn’t be feasible with soft darts, there’d be a huge variety of blasters

I snagged one of these a month early due to target shenanigans, and I really do think this one of my personal favorites. The design has some of the finest proportions out of any blaster I've owned. With most nerf blasters, there are the occasional "what can you do?" Shapes on them, but not with the Mirage. Every detail alligns smoothly and harmoniously. The tactical pipe machine pistol aesthetic is pleasant and blends nicely with the minimalist silhouette. I love the colors as well. That magazine release is amazing, and the mirage feels pretty great to use. My only issue is that the flatness of the rear pad of the grip beats up the webbing of my thumb, but apart from that, absolutely worth the 20 bucks if you're looking for a competitive secondary.

0:47 actually, a pdw refers to any gun designed for the protection of non combatants, like engineers or pilots. They traditionally have more firepower and penetration than smgs. This would include some "smgs", like the mp7 or p90, but also carbines, like the ak74su.

Interesting you mention the magazine being backwards, on the pathfinder the banana mag actually goes the correct orientation. (If not looking a bit oversized.)

I actually saw this on shelves at walmart today, after noting that they moved the entire nerf section in front of the bikes. I like this. I have seven Rival mags; four 12 rounders and three 7 rounders. I have nothing that's not battery powered that can use them.

My take: the Mirage basically invalidates every reasonable argument for someone to buy an Apollo. It’s a spring powered, high velocity mag fed rival blaster that is way smaller than the Apollo or the Helios.

5:35 No Slam Fire Having one in hand, there is no slam fire. Holding down the trigger just locks it from priming. Opening it up, there's definitely no slam fire mechanism, and there's a lock that is blocking the prime if the trigger is held down. So, no clue why Walcom's copy is different. EDIT: further experimentation. I can 'simulate' slam fire by lightly holding the trigger at just the right pressure that it doesn't block the prime; but examination of the internals says this is definitely not a real slam fire mechanism; it's just a side effect Parts Flexing. Not recommended, may damage blaster over time.

Not sure why.. but I got immediate flashbacks to John’s bulpup retaliator builds from back in the day seeing the priming handle in the back of the blaster. It would be interesting to see what he could come up with if he’s still in the modding game in 2024 😏 with the n-strike barrel lugs soon to release, this thing would RIP with a auto-return slide like his other builds..

I'm gonna be honest... I picked up a mirage and challenger together, was super disappointed when I realized (apparently, incorrectly) that the challenger mag wasn't compatible with the mirage. I swear I still can't get mine to fit, maybe it's defective. But knowing that it can be done is nice. Also, a stock *could* be designed for the both of them, right? Seriously both of these blasters have such an awesome profile and work so well... only thing that would improve them both is a stock.

Any sort of rifling system only works with tube shaped objects, such as regular darts. It's why when people throw a football, they spin it. For spherical objects, the way to stabilize them is to put backspin on them, such as a basketball player does. All the rival blasters already have hop up (backspin) built in.

I love how the challenger could have gotten away with its backwards magwell had its magazine not been shaped like a banana. Seriously, why is its magazinewell backwards? Not that it matter much for rival but still it's a really strange feature.

I honestly like what nerf does with rival right now, more springers and just pretty awesome. But they are just wayy more expensive. Id rather stick to X-shot. In Germany we get pro blasters and stuff wayy later and have way less access to the cool blasters you review.

I just bought this blaster and I already regret buying the vision. also something I noticed on my mirage was it had it's hop up angled slightly to the left and over longer distances it doesn't veer as much as something like the kronos or even the vision itself. Does anyone else have an angled hop up?
