I'm a long haul trucker, I'm out on the interstates every week. To be fair, I'm not a coast to coast driver, I'm almost exclusively west coast Canada/US, particularily Calgary to LA. But to give my 2 cents, I don't think doing a cannonball record right now is THAT big of an advantage. Yes the major cities are flowing a lot better, but the highways and byways are at roughly the same volume as pre-virus and the police presence is the same if not more. It used to be I was calling out speed traps on the CB a couple times a day, now its more like once every hour or two. And truck traffic hasn't slowed down at all, and we're all acting like we own the road now. I for one have been a lot more liberal with my long passes since its mostly other trucks out here. States like Nevada, Idaho and Montana feel the same as before, and SoCal is still very busy.

Hungry Moose same on the east man, I aint a trucker anymore thanks epilepsy but I got a cb and lots of buddies still driving, we discussed this also. This was the best time to do it. Local cops and sheriff deputies have been busy doing community outreach. Our department cut traffic enforcement by almost 80%. Highway Patrol didn't seem to be patrolling nearly as much, either. Plus, using spotter planes had to be easier as well given flight traffic was non-existent. Gas was cheap to boot. If we ever get tuning capabilities for the truck, it's getting a Magnuson blower and a bed-mounted fuel cell for a cross country attempt. I already have the dashcams, gopros, good radar detector, cheaper radar detector, cb, radar jammer, and taillight kill switch setup. Just need the fuel cell and pump, way more power for top end LS truck awesomeness, and some much better wheels and tires. Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac A/Ts on 18" polished rims aren't ideal. Maybe some thigh profile summer truck tires on 17-18" steelies for the durability over endless potholes. Or maybe I'll wait til I buy the new Defender 90 with steelies.

No one gets to govern the 'rules' to [what is effectively an illegal] Cannonball run across the country. Point A to Point B makes it a record. Period.

Can you maybe make a video on cannonball on a motorcycle cause I think that theres a possibility to do it on a bike something like maybe a Honda super blackbird cause it does good with mileage and would be able to do a better average on multiple occasions so the only thing I could really think of being a problem is more fuel stops

I don't think Blackbird would be right type of bike. Unless it had heavily modified windshield. I think something more like Goldwing, would be easier.

The modern Cannonball has pretty much ALWAYS been a calculation of traffic conditions. Seriously, why do people generally run from the Red Ball at Oh-Dark-Thirty and not during rush hour? This is why asterisking a time is silly.

Ed, I’d like to point out that you deserve some credit in each of the two recent records for throwing the idea out there that it may or may not be the best time to break a record with less people/police on the road enforcing speeding due to Covid 19. I hope you get the shout out you deserve !

3 days after 9/11 2001 I was driving back from Denver to my home in South Texas. I knew that Colorado, Oklahoma and Kansas were very fond of their "Speed Enforcement" planes. If you remember, the whole US was grounded. No planes for like a month if I remember correctly. Well I was in my 1983 RX-7 with almost all of my worldy posessions (small car). I was driving a good clip out of Colorado until a line of Mustangs and other "sport type cars" passed going MUCH faster. So I pulled in line behind them and set my cruise control at 120mph and we cruised that way for about 2 hrs. I had no radar detectors nor any other type of help. So I let them be my eyes. Well at the end of the 2 hours, they all pulled off to a certain truck stop ( I guess for gas, I was getting 24mpg and had just topped off shortly before seeing them). We waved to each other and I slowed down about 35mph and continued on my trip. I didnt find any others to cruise with so I only drove about 15 to 20Mph over the speed limit with no issues for the rest of my trip.
