What a gentle, kind, and knowledgeable gentleman. Loved this interview. I am reminded of a scripture: Job 12:7-10 But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; 8 or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. 9 Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? 10 In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.

What a wonderful spokesman for not only the north American buffalo, but for the environment as a "whole" system of nature in the manner of Aldo Leopold and Teddy Roosevelt, Gifford Pinchot and the others who brought about such a marvelous and a sense of wonder perspective in applying conservation to the American mythos and consciousness.

Fascinating! My late husband had 3 buffalo cows and a bull. We never used Ivermectin on the cattle we had nor the buffalo. Only the horses. I really rather question the Ivermectin causing the insect population to collapse. I think it's more likely the chem trails doing that ad the reason I say that is because we Ivermectin for our horses at least 3 times a year. We have a large manure pile and our fly population NEVER gets less. Since the flies are on that pile all summer long I would expect there to be less each year, but I swear there are MORE!

Perspective is critical. Try to get an interview with Alan Savory in order to describe the positive impact of cattle on the full range of watersheds. From Wes' comments on ivermectin, it seems highly plausible that investigating either the drug or the implementation can negate impact. We have seen much positive from cattle. Yet as always utilization and strategy can always see improvement.

I understand the concept of the interconnectedness of life, and how the bison provided and provides, and i think cattle have historically provided similarly, but the interview ended with the problem of ivermectin use in cattle ending the effectiveness of cattle for the insects and on up the chain to birds etc., so was there a solution offered that would allow ruminants to continue their role in the prairie ecology? I may have missed it.

No he said that he knows longer believes. Cattle can be use to help the land .because of the ivermectin. We are destroying the land by using all this type of medicine way too much .and not doing what are ancestors did .

So, what if ranchers were asked to deworm their cattle 3 months prior to putting them back out on pasture? Would that work or would they get too heavily infested with worms because of being in paddocks instead of out on the range?

I find the society or ecology of the buffalo a little confusing if they have been in the Americas for only 10,000 years as some claim. Previously the dominant ruminant of the plains were the deer and antelope? Shouldn't we find tremendously more significant social ties to deer and antelope, and hardly any to buffalo? Something about this seems off.
