Ok, so happy to finally see some footage of your guys adventures. Have been patiently waiting for Aaron to post some of his videos as well. You know, Phil, my only issue with the rc cars hobby is that it's too much baggage to take with you when traveling. 😂 Now, with FPV quadcopters, you just need an extra backpack. 😬 But both are freaking fun! The whole rc hobby is! I have a friend who makes videos about gas rc boats! And sometimes he builds them as well! It's freaking fun! 😃 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

100% agreed. My local drift rc club is full of the greatest guys and girls. Who get together and have such a laugh and we all support each other and help each other out and not biased to what they run or how much it cost just want to have fun with the hobby. We all chat daily and talk about anything and everything not just rc stuff. It's definitely not just a hobby.

I am into crawlers mostly 1/18 /24 scale since it is also easier on the budget. My future investments are shocks for FMS FJ and my atlas 6x6. Trying to do little by little the basic upgrades to improve them a little

It’s a hobby, it’s a way of life, it’s an anti depressant, it’s a way to meet new friends all over the world, and a way for parents to bond with their children.. We’ve only got just under 800 subs but I have made true real friends with people all over the world that I talk to almost daily. Also I’m reliving my childhood RC obsession in my 40’s. Buying tge stuff that I always wanted back then but could’ve never afforded 😁 great video with 2 of my favorites

R/C is really no different than anything you may be interested in. That could be fishing, hiking, mountain biking, if you find shared interest with other people, it's all good. I know some people who are so into gaming that they have a whole series of online "friends". It's much better now I think with the internet because you can meet like minded people much easier. Back when I got into it in the early 80's the only way was to go out to events. A small shop (kind of like redfin hobbies) made a PLRS (parking lot racing series) and they'd close the parking lot in the strip mall they were located in and had a fun day of racing with a bunch of amateurs and some who took it more seriously. If you raced, you marshalled. It went on for years. I didn't race as I was more into dirt and they couldn't bring in dump truck loads of dirt and remove it in a day. But it was fun to watch.

it's like skateboarding. You can go anywhere around the world and walk up to a skateboarder and you have friends, a place to stay, a tour guide and all with good company merely from a simple shared interest. Now, i have well aged out of skateboarding but my love for the hobby of RC has brought me the same compassion from like minded others plus a delightful education into sharing joy and empathy for people everywhere. Thank you for posting the nuance and wonderful insights in to our hobby. RC is very unique and KZbin and social media have oddly enough been a blessing for it. Cheers. Loved this.

An old Company called Cox got me into the Flying Hobby. The two traxxas I own came from watching channels like this . Too windy/ rainy to Fly or visit the Skeet Fields is when the cars come out .

Glad to know a lot of people are having fun with RC regardless the circumstances. I really don't like certain RC community in my area that like to dictate the 'right way' of playing with RC car. Don't like it, just keep the opinion to yourself. RC is an expensive toys that most of us doesn't really need but we buy it to have fun (we even fight with our spouse for it..haha) so we can only spend whatever left after we paid all the bills, we don't need people to tell us "oooh, that's not the real d****". Tell that yourself, go d**** the real car!

Im old. I dreamed of gas powered RC cars as a kid but my parents wouldn't go for it. As a teen a worked and bought a couple decent trucks and buggies but never anything elaborate. The last twenty years I've had a few toy grade cars but never fulfilled that childhood dream. Recently met a buddy who's into RC and got me the itch again. Couple months ago i finally bit the bullet and bought an Arrma Fireteam. It's been a blast. So much so that since then I've also bought a Traxxas 6x6 G63, Axial SCX-6, Arrma Outcast 4S, and as i type this am building an Arrma Outcast 8s EXB roller. It's addictive. I've got my next 6 cars picked out already. This time next year i plan to have a full scale RC park built on 10 acres I've got nothing else to do with. I don't expect to make money but it'll be fun!

For sure, even then some people have no idea. Lots of people don't know the difference between a $30 Kmart toy grade RC and a $300 hobbygrade RC. Whenever you tell them an RC cost more then just a $100 they can't get their head around it. Told my sister in law that people race them professionally and her responce was "but they're toys?" The best way I like to explain it is the difference between a nurf gun and an actual firearm. Both fire projectiles although one is a cheap toy that if it breaks you buy another and is not any danger to anyone given the material, speed and weight and energy of the projectile. While firearms are not toys are much more expensive, need matience and sometimes repair yet parts can be brought quite easily if repair is needed also unlike nurfguns the projectiles are high speed and energy with lead bullets that can kill someone in an accident or used incorrectly. In the same all the same criteria can be applied when comparing toys grade RC'S to large expensive heavy and very fast hobby grade RC's

looks like an average weekend with the friends i've made through RC up here in Aberdeen ... maybe less breaking things cos we cant all afford to replace things each time we got out, but the same amount of fun ( saying that Ian does take 3 cars with him coz they normally brake down in some way lol ) . But theres other things to the hobby like teaching yourself new skills for RC stuff ... like some of my recent vid's i've taught myself to braze and weld metal on camera to make new accessories for my Huina 580 :)

Way more than just a hobby. I got into it in the 80's. My kids got hooked. Then my nephews. Their friends got hooked. Now they're adults and their kids are hooked. My Grandkids too. Not uncommon to have 20-30 RC's at a gathering. It's better than therapy. It's a way to be a kid again.

All my rc days I never been a fan on the poly body I’ve used them but being I had so many Tamiya rc things I just went towards the realness of the rc look with hard body’s. All my nitros had poly bodies to my axial and gmade I own since I first got it Tamiya bruiser and two years ago I bought the clone and changed all electronics

you can lock the back wheels (or limit their rotation maybe) so when you turn and go forward the radius is massively reduced (as the rears don't allow any/much forward travel), meaning you can turn more "on the spot" for tight corners.

I got into RC cars as an adult just before Christmas now I have money I can be irresponsible with, it’s really helped me get out my slouch and get on a better track for myself, I no longer sit at home after work and do nothing with my time, it has been stressful but such a good hobby even solo
