Regarding the gentleman who refused your free lawn service at the end of your video. I would have prepared a pamphlet describing your free lawn service for lawns that could potentially go to a city bylaw infraction. Have a link to your KZbin channel and a phone number and email address to contact you. That way the customer can have time to think it over, he is likely worried about it being a scam. You do a great service to your community Fill, keep up the great work!

I agree. A lot of people don't know about channels like this, especially older folks. Just give the person a pamphlet, doorknob placard, or at least a business card (with QR code and website) and let it be. Since the sidewalk and parkway are city property. Could do a "preview" job for the homeowner doing just those items?

The older we get, the more we see what society has become with crooked ads. Being retired and always home, I hate people knocking on our door asking us to buy solar panels, termite and bug killers, landscapers, school fund raisers, etc. It's just plain annoying. Just leave a note with your youtube channel for him to see your work and just let him contact you. You do have a good heart, and I believe they will respond more that way.
@larrylass4268 Жыл бұрын
I agree anyone who knocks on my door OR calls the first thing I think is SCAM and the big wall goes up if it is for free. Burnt a couple of times so sadly, it is the new normal. Leaving a note with the youtube channel and just let him contact you might work.

Yeah, I agree. However, a lot of older folks don't know what youtube is, and have no concept of how you could make a living posting video of free lawncare, therefore, must be some sort of scam... Great job as always. As for the elderly man at the end, I too am getting there. I think that we have been warned so many times as to how people scam older people that we are afraid of most things. I am sure that he said to himself, "Free, yeah sure". He just figured there was a catch. He would have no proof that you said it was free and if you were a scammer, you could deny that you offered it for free. Then you could take him to court for services not paid. I am sure that he didn't want a lawsuit out of it. Just the point of view from an older American. Bless you for trying.

You finally got it right, the way I have been suggesting to everyone I watch their video in this category.... 1st: Weed eat the edge to reduce the thickness of the grass 2nd: Mow 3rd: Edge with the edger or with the weed eater 4th: Blow and clean up You are the only one who keeps his equipments neat and clean, before and after the project. Keeping your equipments well in order is a sign of a professional who cares for your craft and work. I appreciate that you bag the clippings when you mow. I like your consistency and your attention to details. Looking forward to your next project.
@joshuaburba1048 Жыл бұрын
Actually I have heard several lawn care professionals recommended weed-eating BEFORE mowing so that the mower can chop up all those grass clippings. If one mows first, and weed-eats after, as you are suggesting, it will leave grass clippings in the yard at the end, and it won't look as nice. Again, that's what I've heard professionals recommended, and that is the primary reason why.

CHICAGO, IL - I was glad the homeowner came out and thanked and offered a tip, even though you didn’t want to take it. As for the older guy you mentioned at the end, who said no, I would have been that way 2 years ago. At 67, I’ve been watching KZbin service channels and know people are offering free services so I wouldn’t think it was a scam right away. I may ask for your channel name. Most of my siblings laugh when I say I watch KZbin but my nieces and nephews watch some of the same channels. My siblings are 57-78 Y/O and my nieces and nephews are 16-50 Y/O. My point is. It depends on demographics or how much you keep up with technology, regardless of age. Keep doing what you’re doing. I’ve learned here that the people you’re helping are partially skeptical but are embarrassed that they have to rely on someone else.

Personnally, if a person came up to my doorstep and offered to mow my lawn for free I would do the same as the gentleman did and I live in Canada. I’ve seen so many door to door salesmen telling me they could do this for that for me at a certain price and in the end, it was always a lot more than we had agreed upon because things were different than expected and so on. I would definitely expect a free lawn mow to be a lure and I would end up paying full price because of some unforeseen problem after the fact.
