Here's the situation with ELO hell. Yes, if you are top500 you will get to gm and up. If you are plat you cant push out of gold, if you are diamond you cant push out of plat. Take your highest SR from the good old days and just subtract 300, that's where you'll be unable to move any forward. Thing is, this accounts for players that don't improve and just want to play brainlessly. If you get better and were once diamond you can climb to masters once you earn GM level skills. That's too hard for casuals, and in their defense doesn't really give them any real feeling of improvement if the results aren't tied to their performance right away. I'm better than I've ever been but still SR peaked back in season 15. Not by much mind you, but I don't get paid to play this game like every single "elo hell doesn't exist" pro player spouting drivel. And neither does 99.9999999999999% of everyone else.

What Super doesn't know about elo hell is being capable of climbing ~500sr but not KNOWING that you can and not having the time to deal with the ranked ladder's bs. You *can* play 500 sr above your rank, but then you can still draw bad teammates and have a demoralizing game. After that you get tilted, play a bit worse, lose again, and spiral til you play like shit and feel like shit. Elo hell wouldn't be so bad if everybody played one game per day, but that's no fun. Playing just a little bit better than the enemy team isn't gonna cut it, which is why it's easy for Super to say "just climb" bc he knows he can and the margin of difference between him and the other guy is so great. But he had to play with pros to get that good; how could he have gotten good at the game without it? Plat OW and OWL are completely different games, and there are big differences even between each rank. It takes time and patience, two things a lot of players don't have.

Don't really understand how ELO hell doesn't exist in a team-based game like overwatch. If your teammates don't pull their weight how are you supposed to just be be good and carry everyone? I get that if you are actually good at the game then eventually you'll climb but I always saw ELO hell as the long and terrible slog through matches of garbage players that don't know how to play or just leave halfway through the match, and you end up taking weeks to climb when it should really only take a few good sessions.

The problem with people saying ELO hell not existing is that they’re only considering those who think they could be T500 but they’re gold, when it’s more like a silver player who plays like a low plat being stuck in high silver/low gold. @@roswell_A51 I’m high plat on tank and support, and mid-gold on DPS. I’ve hit diamond on support many times (peak 3300) and I’ve been as low as silver (like 1600) on DPS and about mid gold on tank (2200ish). I knew I was better than a Gold tank and I knew I was better than a silver DPS so I just started focusing on them and eventually ran into a group I played well with and I was able to climb up to about where I am now on both, and I’ve stayed there since, but I was stuck in those ranks since role queue was introduced, that’s what proved ELO Hell existed, the fact that I was able to play at the same level I did in lower ranks and succeed (if not even more so than before)

@@Nyxtia They probably think that gm/ t500 players would have a hard time climbing and that would prove their point. 1 game where the streamer has to sweat their ass off to win, just 1, and everybody screams "elo hell is real." People don't want to see themselves be wrong, they want to see a top1% player struggle in gold so they feel better about themselves. With an unranked to gm, they easily climb to the next rank after 1 or 2 wins, so by doing a bronze to gm they not only get the "full" experience of actually climbing from the bottom, but it takes longer too. What people don't realize though, is that no matter what happens, they eventually get their account to gm. Just like how I got my four accounts (across pc and ps4) to mid plat (from silver and bronze), they also get their accounts to their proper sr. If you are in silver but belong in gold, you will get gold. If you belong in plat, you will get plat. If you belong in diamond. You will get diamond. People saying elo hell exists just don't want to think they're bad at the game.
