In this case, it's probably that they measured the viable distance when they finished casting last. Ironically, because Wee steps back about 3 paces, we're back out of max range compared to when they calculated the correct range to stay at. They could have just waited for the arrows to be shot and rolled through them towards him, but unfortunately they were a coward

My favorite trick is using Loretta’s Mastery out in the wide open, charging it while aiming backwards and then targeting a player when you’re orientation locked. You fire the arrows backwards and they all hook around and each smash into your target from the side one at a time. Super hard to dodge

Loretta’s mastery actually excels in wide open spaces like that because you can cast it in nearly any direction and it will home in on them as long as you are locked on. It adds for a cool mixup when you shoot off in some direction and they eventually loop around back to hit your enemy
