*[Xenomaterial Experiment 001]* Preliminary observations: A piece (25 cm³) of the Material has been extracted from an anomalous monolith structure of unknown origins in the vicinity of our main Mars Research Facility and brought in the newly constructed Research and Development complex, it was initially, momentarily, stored in the main garage while awaiting completion of the laboratory, Researcher's note "Huh, why does it seem bigger?" *[Preliminary tests Log]* -Rough [Mechanical Stress Test] indicates a high resistance to external damage, its tensile and compressive strength exceeded that of Tungsten (3600, 3500 MPa's) -Material [Conductivity] even lower than that of Manganese Metal with a coefficient of 7.810 and even that of common Wood with a coefficient of 0.17 -[Weight] test showed incredible density compared to one of our main building materials, our Reinforced SteelCrete™ has roughly a weight of 30kgs per Standardized Size of 25 cubed centimetre, yet the XenoMaterial exceeded its weight in comparable size during the test, nearing the density (if not exceeding it) even of Osmium metal (Os, element 76, 22.661 Kg/m³) *[Reasercher's Note]* The sleek and slight reflective surface of the Material (similar to Obsidian rock) has endured Mars atmosphere's for an undetermined amount with no visible wear, its appearance is unaffected by mechanical and temperature stress yet seems metallic in nature- (Log is incomplete) [Research: **Inconclusive.** - Status: **Aborted due to potentially hazardous conditions.**] *[General Experiment Log]* The XenoMaterial has been returned to its original sight after the discovery and confirmation to posses the anomalous ability to gain mass over time, non-on site researchers such as myself have theorised that this may be provoked by exposure to ambient moisture and liquid water during tests [unconfirmed]. The weight of the material and its size has made transportation troublesome, our machinery has proven incapable of handling alien materials like the Monolith. **[Addendum 01] Mars Heavy Duty Transport Vehicle 02 (HDTV-02) has suffered superficial damage due to the XenoMaterial's ability to expand, it seems to have absorbed part of the Vehicle's cargo bay door and added it to its mass.** When returned to the original site, the XenoMaterial* (now referred to as Monolith II due to its considerable size increase for the rest of this log), it seemed to vibrate and emanate a low frequency "humm" (further radiological protection is to be considered, even if the Monolith II seemed to not be radioactive even after exposure to Mars' atmosphere), after the span of 5000 milliseconds the Monolith II has _merged_ with the original Monolith. Researcher has evacuated the site in visible distress following the Event. [Operation Status Log: Research inconclusive, breach of safety parameters avoided, on-site personnel in distress. *Failure.* ]

considering how dangerous this was, there should be a small laboratory near the monolith to make some preliminary research before sending anything potentially dangerous to the base. it should have a research lab, a small vehicle hangar and a very small crew quarter.

[Incident evaluation log - 01 Codename: Monolith Beta] Incident summary: Casualties: 0 Injuries: 0* Property damage: 14 steel blocks *Psychological evaluation pending Security examination results: The incident has demonstrated a major error in the current base layout, along with an absence of secure sample storage. To prevent further incidents a secure sample storage facility should be attached to the garage and engineering area. This storage facility should have a more direct and secure path towards the testing area, a direct connection is considered optimal. Best possible solution is to move the entire lab section and use the opportunity to expand and update the testing area. Additional safety protocols should be implemented to monitor following extracted samples in order to prevent further incidents where unknown substances are left unsupervised and "knocked off the table somehow". Additional security concerns: Housing fully functional rogue AI bots in the labs is a major security threat, which may result in further incidents. The research of the Harvester AI error is an important endeavour, however it should not interfere with other research. It may be just a paranoid concern or time will prove this statement right. The SMars surface may be a more dangerous environment than we first imagined, stay safe out there.

I think the Monoliths may be intelligent, and that the intelligence always wants to have 1 singular monolith in a given distance, if a piece is taken off and moved sufficiently far away, it will grow to be a replica of the origin monolith, if two monoliths are near each other inside the given radius, then the parent monolith will absorb its replica.

New scp was discovered. The monolith. Special containment procedure: a cuboid, which is the monolith should be kept in a large room midair (using magnetic forces). The room cannot be entered, as it would let the dust in, which would later attach to the monolith itself, forcing it to grow further. It is now being discussed by the 05 if we should try and convert the "immortal lizard" into the monolith in attempts to kill the lizard

Personal log. Day 2 of examining the piece of xenomaterial I stole from the lab. It was discovered in a shallow crater not far from the Main base. The unknown material seems impervious to physical stimuli, so I attempted to pass a low voltage current across the surface of the small shard in my room. The moment I connected the battery to the circuit, the shard seemed to vibrate briefly, then stop. The battery, which had been fully charged, was now completely drained. I quickly touched the shard expecting to feel warmth, but the temperature hadn't changed at all. Against my better judgement I decided to increase the voltage by tapping into the base power grid. Setting the small shard between the exposed electrical leads, I hit the power switch. The inside of the containment chamber began getting brighter as the shard started glowing slightly, my finger resting on the power switch in nervous anticipation. Peering at the small, glowing shard, a dark spot began to form at the center. The darkened region then seemed to become translucent, almost transparent! My nose pressing on the viewing window of the containment chamber, squinting in disbelief of what I was seeing. There now appeared to be a small hole in the center of the shard! Reaching over quickly and killing the power, I was excited to see a reaction of some sort. All safety sensors were giving nominal readings so I removed the shard from the containment chamber for closer inspection, and that's when I realized the hole was no longer there. The shard was still in it's original condition, solid. My imagination began pondering all the possible explanations and kept landing on the same conclusion. Is this some sort of portal...wormhole...doorway. But, a doorway to where?

A small correction. The current understanding seems to be that matter CAN be created or destroyed. Or rather transformed. That is because matter is energy but in a solid form. So pure energy can be transformed into a solid form and vice versa.

Hey ScrapMan! Really loving this series so far, and I love your creative approach to adding story elements to the series! One suggestion I might make would be to add the Scrap Mechanic Effects mod to the mod list, as it would allow people making creation a much wider variety of options to improve the look and feel of their creations. The mod itself adds several blocks that allow for people to use hundreds of in game particle effects, such as thruster plumes, water droplets, fire, smoke, and other similar particles. Additionally, it even allows use of particle systems not fully implemented into the game yet, such as particles tied to the Encrypter components from warehouses! I think would allow for creators to up the immersion of their creations to a whole new level. Either way, I'll continue to enjoy your videos making this a fun, entertaining, and immersive experience for everyone, whether they just want to watch, or create things too.

It expands slowly when not touching other matter because it is using matter from the atmosphere. When it is touching blocks it just uses that. If you put it in a vacuum chamber and didn’t let it touch anything it would be essentially halted from growing. This is very dangerous though, as if it were to touch even one block it could cause a complete security breach

I think the reason why the monolith grew was because it can absorb solid materials, but also gases in the air. Maybe that’s the reason why it grew faster in the lab than in the garage. Since the garage has a less dense atmosphere than the rest of the base, it grew slowly. When you brought it to the oxygenated lab, the shard absorbed the extra oxygen and grew faster. By that logic, it could be theoretically possible to safely contain the piece by placing it in a vacuum. No air=nothing to absorb.

The material of the monolith has a lot of practical applications if more testing could be done, it would work very well as an insulator or heat shield and it has high strength applications as well. It is very cheap to make because it grows pretty quickly, I think that is a very big breakthrough.

imagine that the monolith was actually a rock creature that was a creature that was absorbing materials to get big enough to form its body after some space battle or something and then it absorbed its self again to become even bigger and strong and goes to scrapman base absorbs scrapman entire base while hes at some exploration mission into that cave.
