The buddy bonus star in this game means you have to have the “right” buddy. Basically it will randomly choose a buddy someone got and who ever has it gets the star. It’s absolutely dumb.

Any one of the bonus stars tends to be absolutely dumb, because they get “randomly” selected but the selection tends to favor the lower-place players. Oh, and they tend to favor the predicted winner. Oh, your prediction won? Yeah, obviously, because you made sure they won by picking the bonus stars so they would! Maybe if actually collecting stars didn’t feel so useless it might actually feel like a skill game.
