Speaking of female sports. When there is a transgender man who is competing as a women do you think that is fair to the true women who were born as females? I personally don’t think it is fair for a “man” to compete in women’s sports.
@MRSASUSTAO3 жыл бұрын
@@zanerack1021 Totally not fair!
@heatherseal-breslin82233 жыл бұрын
@@zanerack1021 I don't care if you're born female or discover it later, you're a woman either way. One of my teammates was over 6' tall and frequently practiced with men but was born female.
@zanerack10213 жыл бұрын
@@heatherseal-breslin8223 The thing is if you’re born male and claim your female you’re not a biological female. If a transgender girl wants to play in a men’s sport i don’t think that is ok either. The only advantage she had was she was tall. The thing about men playing in women’s sports is that men are overall a lot stronger than girls. That’s not a sexist comment because it’s the truth. Men are made to be stronger than women. How would you feel if you were trucked by a muscular biological male that claims to be female. You wouldn’t be to happy about that. But like you said your friend volunteered to play in a mans sport because she claimed to be male. If a man claims to be a women and is trucking girls in a female sport, that’s not fair because the women around him didn’t sign up to be trucked by a biological man. I see where you are coming from but some men are using the thought of since they are transgender they can dominate in women’s sport and that’s exactly what men are doing. It just isn’t fair to biological women.
@mattguest63263 жыл бұрын
This is what it’s about. These are the women who epitomize the US spirit which I am proud to have represent our nation. No slight to the pageants for which the song is most associated, but I haven’t paid attention to those since I was single digits. The Olympics, though? I will always spare them a few minutes, and marvel. They earned their way there. They are the best, or among the best. Without a bit of politics in my heart, I root for the ladies bearing my flag, and then for the ones, if any, who fairly beat them.

@leonmeek67883 жыл бұрын
I went back to watch it a second time before commenting, and conclude that this is one of the most clever marketing moves I've seen in 50 years of living. The song represents the century old beauty competition that has awarded and produced decades of extremely successful, intelligent, and yes beautiful women. The commercial has targeted those same women who excel in athleticism and sport. As a red blooded American male, I see the beauty in the comparison. And it's refreshing to see that a major retailer has the balls ( I couldn't resist) to lift the image of what it means to be Miss America during this Olympia! Congratulations to the women and men of team United States and a special thank you to DSG for the visibility for your fellow American athletes.

Leon, I think you mean well, but hundreds of thousands of women needlessly held themselves up to those pagent expectations and felt like a failure when they were ALSO suggessful, intelligent and perhaps beautiful in many many ways. THANK YOU! so simple, yet says so much far behind we are as a nation of ACTUALLY recognizing badass ladies in the Olympics and sports in general. How does a BACKUP QB make more than all the women in the WNBA. We have still so far to go….
@christucker72793 жыл бұрын
Do you watch the WNBA? In order for woman to make more money in that league you need the viewership to go up, which makes ad revenue and ticket sales go up. How would someone in the WNBA make NFL quarterback money if the viewership and attendance in the WNBA is 1/10 of the NFL? I’m just curious how you think they should increase the salary?
@agreyes36213 жыл бұрын
@@christucker7279 while I don’t watch every game-I do watch when my local teams aren’t. I do, however, watch it more than Soccer and a crappy NFL game. In the last few years I’ve followed young ladies through college to the WNBA. I see it like this: Men make more money in US Soccer, WNBA, Tennis, Golf etc. It shouldn’t be about “eyes” on the screen. It should be about networks promoting it more (which they have started doing). I can’t wait for the day to see a woman on an NFL team or playing alongside men in the MLB. Ladies managing and coaching is just the beginning. It’s time for further integration overall. Saying it won’t happen is pure ignorance.
@christucker72793 жыл бұрын
@@agreyes3621 I didn’t say it wouldn’t happen? I’m asking a logical question, because at the end of the day it is about eyes on the screen and money revenue to actually pay the players with.
@agreyes36213 жыл бұрын
@@christucker7279 ok, start a ESPNW channel along with the other 4 (dedicated to men BTW) on network tv. They do have an ESPN+ section (but you have to $$ for it) once ESPN usually starts something-it will be called “breakthrough” and other networks and streaming services will follow. Then use that ad revenue generated to pay women fair amounts. That’s the logical part of it. Let’s give less attention to Lebronicus and Brady, enough already! I think the lynchpin will be the breakdown (finally) of the draconian NCAA. Players will be able to already secure endorsements in all sports offered. Going from amateur to professional will be less of a milestone with money saved away for the last four years.

Dick's had the balls to break the confining "beauty" stigma mold that has oppressed women and deluded men for a long time and reveal the powerful, determined woman as the real beauty that she is. However, I think they chickened out, sold out, and basically "shrank" away from going full balls to the walls when they caved to the traditional "feminine" mores of perfect hair and makeup at 0:16 Truly disappointing, Dick's. Why? Why make a powerful statement, then contradict it? Cowards.
