Ken Griffey Jr. was no ordinary baseball player. With his record-breaking power at the plate, awe-inspiring athleticism in the field, infectious charisma, and unwavering love for America's pastime, Griffey was a generational talent who captivated fans and dominated the diamond like few others in MLB history.
His Numbers Speak for Themselves
Simply put, Griffey produced video game-like statistics during his incredible 22-year career. He hammered a staggering 630 home runs, won 10 Gold Glove awards, made 13 All-Star teams, and was voted to the Hall of Fame by a record 99.3% of voters in his first year of eligibility. For over two decades, Griffey brought power, speed, dazzling defense and unmatched flair that changed the way the game was played.
An Icon Who Saved Baseball
After the 1994 strike threatened America's faith in the national pastime, Griffey singlehandedly reignited enthusiasm in the sport. His backward hat, gorgeous swing and breath-taking highlights became staples of highlight reels for a new generation. Griffey made baseball exciting again - he was a superhero shooting out of comic books for legions of young fans.
While we may never see another five-tool phenomenon quite like Ken Griffey Jr., his legacy as one of baseball's most exceptionally talented - and important - players is cemented forever. No wonder they call him "The Kid."

Playing a sport tears your body up and baseball players play every day. I bet all of them have related aches and pain.

If he has 313 hits in 58 games they would of given him 37 years at 107 million a year

College baseball was even more irrelevant in the 80s and 90s than it is today. Not that bold to skip college.

It's a shame the latter half of his career was plagued by injuries. If he stayed healthy, he could have easily hit 800 homeruns. All without needing to bulk up.

I agree, it would've been nice to see what he could really accomplish if he stayed healthy!!

A couple notable things that would've been worth mentioning are how he and his father were the first father and son in MLB history to play together, and even singled in their first at-bats, along with how Junior injured his wrist in the '95 season, missing three months, which influenced the team to play the best they could until he returned. And after he did, they caught fire and ended up winning their first division title. It's also important to know that Ken Griffey Jr's Winning Run wasn't inspired by his performance in the '95 play-offs. That was actually the second Griffey baseball game, with the first being Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball, which came out in '94.

Another achievement him and his dad did were both going back to back with home runs being the only father son duo to ever do it
