He slept in the same conditions as Marleyan soldiers/citizens, ate their food, and saw that in every way they were similar to him and still chose to kill innocent men, women and children. Then he chose to do the same to every nation across the world, without a second thought in his mind. It is clear where his morality lies at. Eren is a phenomenal character and one of the most superbly written protagonists in manga. But that doesn't change the fact he is a terrible human being lol

first of all we should not forget the main reason marley began the attack , to get oil resources, they wanted to wipe out entire pardis just for that so erens rage is reasonable, it may not be right but if they didn't attack this time, they would have easily been crushed by 6 titans vs 2 plus anti titan warfare and defeated, everything can be concluded that this was the only choice eren had. Which is explained beautifully later in manga.

Some little details on the TV vs the Blu ray version for this episode that i found interesting: The color of the thunder spears fire is changed from orange to blue. Also one of the big complains when this episode aired was that Mikasa even compared to the rest of the episode looked completely different in that one close up shot of her tearing up so they fixed that in the blu ray and it looks much more consistent.

Yup, exactly. Tybur declared war on Paradis prior to any attack on Marley. If you think about it, the only casualties they had on the Marley side the past 10 or so years was Bertholdt and Marcel (up until now of course). Meanwhile a quarter of a million Eldians on Paradis died for a war they didn't even know existed. Yet the Marley government still wants to declare war while the citizens cheered them on while they did it. All for the sake of getting the Founding Titan. While the innocent casualties are unfortunate, it would have been avoided if Marley didn't strike Paradis first.

" no side is bad" The world was uniting to gang up on a tiny island, where people there really did not know anything about it. "Eren was in the wrong or in the bad side, he killed innocent one" so what should he do? wait the attack of the world on them in paradis? and lrt innocent people from their side instead? like idk why people don't understand Eren and what he was saying to Reiner, he don't have a choice when the world was gonna attack them. The world was ganging up because Marley spread lies along with the Tybur family that the island was full of devils who would kill everyone if they weren’t killed first. This was amplified by people’s fear of the titans (which Marley frequently showed off). I understand Eren attacking the Marley government and military. Killing civilians and people who have been brainwashed is no different from marley killing eldians. Both of those are one group killing a person because they were born into the wrong race. Eren’s actions are wrong, as are Marley’s. Two wrongs don’t make a right. Eren could have tried to make a more precise attack on military bases or go after specifically the warriors but he chose a festival in a residential area and purposefully used the lives of the innocent people to his advantage. Eren had a choice, and he chose the easy option. The hard option would have been trying to negotiate peace and dismiss the false image of the people of paradis island to other nations and garner support which could have been used to launch a war against Marley using the titans against them (we see Marley isn’t particularly liked by other nations and are only on good terms because of their superior military). There were many more ways to go about it. Can’t say if they would have been successful or not but they would have at least been more justifiable that indiscriminate killing in a civilian residential area.

Eren has done terrible things. He killed civilians - men, women, children, even for the sake of a "higher goal". As he said to Rainer "I am the same as you", who also broke through the wall and committed mass murder. He became the one he hated the most, as Mikassa said with tears in her eyes for him "there is no way back." In fact, this is a very sad scene, Eren's act only intensified the spiral of mutual hatred and oppression.

glad u guys didn't call mikasa a man bc of the poor character design this episode unlike every other reactor. also in the manga, it shows that eren was affected by her words when she reminded him of the casualties he caused but ofc he has to "keep moving forward" or whatever. and mikasa is pretty morally ambiguous but at the end of the day she's against mass murder or killing children :/ and she out of all characters would know the feeling of being an ignorant child that's hunted down for their race also warhammer titan is one of my favs, wish we got to see more of her tbh
