Growing up I always asked my parents before I helped myself to snacks like chips, chocolate or ice cream. When my friends came over they always found it weird. It was a sign of respect in my household because it could be for someone else, or would ruin my dinner. Now that I’m grown, I still ask my family “who’s is this” before eating our snacks, and other family members do the same since we’re all earning now.
