There is a legal measure for spirits in Britain, though it is larger in Scotland than in England and Wales,

I loved that show. There was something wholesome and innocent about it if that makes sense. it could be coarse at times, but even that seemed fine because there was a sort of honesty to it. Well written, well acted, brilliant show. You felt like you belonged in the middle of it.

I think that's part of its charm. I'm not Scottish and I don't fancy living in a tower block, but I still get a huge sense of nostalgia from watching Still Game. Mind you, I used to watch Rab C Nesbitt when I was a kid.

Navid in the corner shop gets a much bigger role as the series move on. He is hilarious. You should try to find some of the reunion clips on you tube where the cast are interviewed/ answer questions from the audience. The banter between the cast is brilliant. Also you will be surprised how young the cast look when not in costume/ makeup😂👍🐿🏴

Thanks Squirrel, I don't know where I was when this first came out but am loving watching this. I thought Barbara's sister was going to say she worked in a butchers and wrestled with/ cut the meat with her bare hands. Alas no she was a sewer who took in alterations, no doubt ripping her way through any excess fabric and driving her sewing machine like it was a tank!! Those beaded curtains remind me more of a fortune teller's hut on the sea front, but were quite the thing in the 70's.

The optics ( the tap that goes in the upside down bottles) are a legal requirement. Singles and doubles have a specific volume under UK law.

It just keeps on getting better and better. Try searching Chewin' the Fat for skits here and there. Jack and Victor spawned from it. Probably the most watched comedy in Scotlands history, and excerpts are very common on twitter as a way of video memes. You'll get to love Winston, Tam, Isa, Boaby and Navid(and Meena)as the episodes progress.

Figure the last yins (ones) oot yersel big man! Cheers for that. Sometimes you can be feeling a bit crap but there's always Still Game on hand to make things better for half an hour!

About answering the phone with a string of numbers, a lot of people used to answer the phone with the local part of their phone number (our phone numbers have an area code and a local part which was originally 3 or 4 numbers long, now 6-8 numbers long). I guess it cleared up misdials immediately. With old UK phone boxes you could press "A" after hearing the person answer to be connected and talk to them, or press "B" to get your money back (so you could call again, if you'd misdialed).

Hey🐿️ just got up here in the UK (without Edith😂) and you reacting to Still game first notification, great start to the day. The UK generally sell spirits on optics that deliver a measure for sale the single or shot is 1/6of a gill pronounced Jill or 23. 7 millilitres (usually rounded to 25ml to even the distribution of liquid in the bottle, a dram is an old measurement not in general use 1 gallon is 1024 drams 1 pint is 128 drams or 4.8 gills. ✌️🇬🇧✌️🇺🇸🍻

Honestly not a huge fan of this episode Winston gets kicked out the pub for no good reason (Even when they tried to explain it they did a terrible job at it) Plus when Jack asks Boaby when is he letting Winston back in and Boaby says when he apologises but Winston didn't do anything wrong, so no need for him to apologise. Also Winston sleeps with the woman at end was rather lame in my opinion considering that they only had 1 encounter with each other and that was when she was with Jack, Victoria and Barbara before they go into the pub. So him sleeping with her made little sense to me. Also they reuse this same post credit scene in an episode in series 3 but it made more sense in that episode than it does here.
@emander83402 жыл бұрын
I always took it that Winston was barred because he spat out his pint all over Boabby but I do enjoy a lot of this episode. Not as much as others but it still has strong parts. Winston still talks with his exaggerated voice mind you so just shows how early it is in the whole thing.
