eBay Best Practices - Reseller Shows How She Ships Stuff She Sells

We finally got around to recording a video of how we ship some of the different types of items I sell. I show shipping different kinds of plush, glass plates, small plastic toys, books, and more.

I’ve probably watched this three times in the past two months. Maybe more. Very helpful. I do tend to ship my lovies in boxes, though. Even if there’s no rattle or anything. Bag, roll up a bit, tell it I’m sorry, and stick it in a 5x5 box. Typically, anyway. I take notes on your box sizes. Super helpful! Thank you!

My cousins are mail carriers. They said that if the box is smaller than the label, to make sure that the customer's address and the barcode are on the same side.

Rebel I have been selling on Ebay for about a year and a half now. When I first started I knew nothing about shipping. I have just followed the moto to ship it like it was my own package. Hi Rebel! I have so many plush animal thank you for this video it really helps some of the plush animals I cannot find on Google or eBay how do I know how much to price them at thank you Letty

If you know the brand look at comps of other plush by that brand. If you don't know the brand, look for plush of the same type - rabbits, dogs, turtles and pick a price that seems reasonable based on condition and size.

Thank you for your wonderful ideas. I have a question. I watched your video on how you set up your listings and you glossed over the shipping. I noticed that you give your buyers the option to choose Priority or Ground Advantage, how do you set that up? When I create a listing, it only gives me the opportunity to put in one shipper. How do you set it up so your buyer has a choice? Thanks in advance.

In the shipping section, there should be a " +Add Additional Services " right after the primary shipping option. You can pick another service. I do Priority first, ground advantage second on items over 1 pound. If UPS might be an option, I add it also.

Hi Rebel! This was really helpful! If you could only afford to spend about $100 on boxes, which sizes would you get? I find that I am spending hours weekly on a box hunt. I would rather just buy some and save the headache of worrying what I will ship something in when it ships! I sell everything and need every size box though! Maybe I could just get bigger boxes and cut them down when I need to

I sell a lot of small items so I use a lot of the 6x6x4 and the 8x6x4. For larger plush items and small lots I tend to use the 12x6x6 and the 16x12x8. Anytime I find a box that I think would be very useful, I measure it and then order a pack of 25.

You put the weight and dimensions and eBay's program calculates it for the buyer based on the zipcode on their account.

When you ship a stuffed animal that takes batteries, do you ship it with the batteries included? And if so, are they installed in the plush or shipped along side it?

The only batteries I include or the small button batteries. I remove them from the toys and place in a bag. All other toys are shipped without batteries.

I have flat rate for anything I can ship first class. 0-4 oz is $4.50, 5-8 oz is $4.75, 9-12 oz is $5.75, and 13 to 16 oz is $6.75. It covers shipping to any region with a little extra to cover supplies. Anything over 1 lb I use calculated shipping and ship Priority. If it is going to be over-sized, I also offer UPS ground.

Don't waste time cutting down boxes like the plate box!! Time is money, more money than using a two-three sheets of packing paper. Always cushion your items using packing paper verses the pillows. The pillows will burst the item inside has any weight to it if the box is dropped. The paper will compact somewhat, but still provide cushioning where as burst pillows won't provide anything.

In 24 years, I've never had that happen. If the eyes bulge out, I use a bubble mailer.

I watch Staples to see if any sizes go on sale, otherwise I usually buy on eBay through The Boxery.

Correct. Multiple plates would be too thick to ship in that box.

Would a jumbo plush Wells Fargo horse be to costly to ship. He is at least 36" and has a firm bar or rod in the neck to keep his head upright

That one is gonna be tough. You'll need to find or build a box that fits it perfectly to make sure you have the smallest dimensions possible while making sure if it packed safely. It will probably be expensive to ship.
