I think the future seasons would have the potential (just going off of what the creators were able to do with dark), but Netflix has cancelled seasons two and three.

I love shows like in this genre, in general, but I could not even get past finishing season 1 of 1899. SO many paths down avenues that led to just more unsatisfying magical non-sequiturs (sp?)... It grew tiring and boring. SO... I decided to have a go at the recap of Season 1. I'm in at about 45 min, and I'm just as bored and giving up. The acting is great, the sets and costume etc... But the story; well, I opined above. Just my reaction though. Surely some will enjoy it.

After Dark, this was a great letdown for me. I did not have great expectations going into the show but I was still disappointed. I found the first 7 episodes excrutiatingly slow and a bit boring. The only episode remotely interesting for me was the season finale. Season 2 needs to be much better.
