@noThankyou-g5c
@noThankyou-g5c 13 күн бұрын
the key dont rlly matter. it depends a lot on the instruments/bass ur using as well as what actual chords ur using. in general though a fat low bass does sound best around the low E so that’s probably why u like d min so much. especially if ur just using a simple i-ii° progression. ur bass is always gonna be in that perfect pocket
@DavidAneru90
@DavidAneru90 2 күн бұрын
So you mean write it higher 3-5 semitones, render it, then pitch it down to the desired key?
@noThankyou-g5c
@noThankyou-g5c 2 күн бұрын
@@DavidAneru90 thats definitely a cool sound design tactic in its own way. the 12 stout st beat was made that way but probably pitched down more. What i mean though is write the entire melody like whatever parts. lets say hypothetically ur beat has chords, a pad, a lead, and a bell. write those all in c major, then after u finished writing it, get a good bassline. Then lets say your bassline goes like F for 2 bars then A for 2 bars. you can bring that down like 3 semitones and your bassline will go D - F# now which is going to hit harder but isnt so deep ppl cant hear it without a subwoofer. Then you go to your chords, select all the midi, drag them down 3st, your pad same thing, etc etc. Apparently on FL theres a way to do all ur instruments at once but i dont use it. on ableton u basically gotta do it one by one. it’s a bit tedious but its easier than learning every scale plus when you’re thinking about where the bass will sit during composition itll make mixing 10x easier. hopefully that makes sense. maybe ill make a tutorial one day on my producer account

Guys stop using those ghost notes for your scales. Just use the helpers scale highlighting in FL Studio 🤔
@jamellkennedy5017

Some do it to follow they chord progression and some so it can be easier to see the helpers I think good if u write music without only depending con chord progression and another advantage of the helpers u won't have to delete the scale and it don't get in the way so I think overall scale highlighting better also

There's a scale paste option (the button that's a circle with three lines), just choose the scale you want. If it's the one in the video, it'd be "natural minor" If you want to make the scales yourself without needing to paste it, you could just draw in the notes yourself, or use the scale highlighting feature. To use the scale highlighting feature you have to right-click the music button in the piano roll (a few buttons you have to mess with, I honestly forget it's been a while), and then choose the root note and then the scale type
