I personally would pick the Sonata N-Line due to the futuristic tech and more quirky exterior, but others would pick the K5 GT for its more traditional interior and so-so restrained exterior. AWD? Not a chance on earth as long as the G70 & Stinger is around. We have a better chance seeing a K7/Cadenza with AWD before the other vehicles get it. So, i guess the only that is available is a LSD. H/K should've made LSD standard for all their performance models. If not, the can sell us a mechanical LSD via N/GT performance parts catalog.

Lots of great stuff here. My 2016 Optima 2.0 turbo sx has the 360 camera though which I think they should have added in this 2021 k5. I love my 2.0 turbo but this new styling looks pretty dope. I’ll wait until it has a few years on the market

I personally like the Sonata with that gold yellow paint, really sporty! I'm not into that fastback look that reminds me of the Accord.. I prefer the look of the stinger hatchback over this.

Almost 300 HP you can’t fully use especially in Northern climates. In fact as a ex Optima SXL owner with 245 HP living in Minnesota, the car was horrible in snow. Needed snow tires on that car, can’t imagine driving this in the snow without winter snow tires. I understand why they’re not going AWD with this when the base Stinger will have the same motor and offer AWD. If I’m buying, it’s Stinger w/2.5 AWD and I’ll gladly pay the difference.
@Darylrb19833 жыл бұрын
Not many would use the full 300hp in northern climates. I managed with a 350hp econobox..but probably used 100hp, throttle control, amd good tires lol

The US version of the K5 is built in the same West Point, Georgia plant as the Telluride and Sorento. The demand for those vehicles combined with the production bottlenecks associated with the COVID virus means niche vehicles like the K5 GT get pushed to the end of line.

This is sweeter than bmw and Audi knowing you can still burn out and get off the line without draining your pocket insurance and maintenance by all means,one of the best re design sedans in the market,I rented one and boy I don’t want to return it,I felt the attraction after just a week of driving,smooth fast and silent if you just wanna unwind and relaxed, overall it’s a price you can’t beat.

Ummm...I thought the Stinger and the G70 were the European sport sedan alternatives from Hyundai/Kia/Genesis🤔...really, Redline??? That’s no slight against the K5. I think the whole really powerful FWD burnout sensation is hilarious, too! But I definitely wouldn’t go so far as to consider this an alternative to European sports sedans, especially when they have the Stinger and G70.
@williamlong26823 жыл бұрын
@zach busman Even still, though, the G70 and Stinger still represent extremely compelling value propositions in comparison with the German options while still being much more comparable vehicles to those German entries overall. Sofyan’s push of the whole “discount European luxury sedan” idea just strikes me as regurgitation of the Kia marketing talking point.

This is literally Kia's own marketing strategy. They have commercials comparing it to the German compacts. That's why Redline is referencing this. Some people may want the extra legroom with comparable price and performance and not care about the luxury brand name.

@Ayush Malpeddi zero frustration on my part, I'm just an internet commentator that has no intention of buying this car. This car seems to be surprisingly more exciting and sort of unexpected. Everyone who talks about this car shows more excitment than talking about an accord or camry or altima. Seems like the launch control allows for some wheel spin. This car would shine flooring it from a roll. I believe the accord will walk it from a dig just due to the traction issues but from a roll the GT would run away. I definitely want one and I rather have one instead of blending in with a sea of accords. Great job Kia!

The short answer is no. No KIA has not built a sports sedan lol. This car doesn’t even drive better than an Accord or Camry, let alone a 3 Series. It is a striking vehicle though and no one does infotainment and tech better than Hyundai/KIA in the class. It if it’s driving you’re looking for, the regular Camry XSE or Accord Sport is still better. The Camry TRD widens the gap.
