You be surprised how bad fuel economy you will get from subaru hybrids 😕 I remember promises on old crosstrek hybrid about fuel economy, end up it was worst then forester with avg 12l/60 miles, as powertrain was totally guttless and to get up to speed you need to rev it sky high to get any sensible acceleration 😕

That blinking digital display hurts so bad for eyes. I also prefer buttons over a huge glaring infotainment screen that distracts especially at night. Everything else is great.

Wow, it's finally here -- a Subaru hybrid! Let's see the new hybrid turbocharged Outback now. 260+ hp, lots of torque, all terrain tires... and you have one of the best non-hardcore off-road options to go to the campsite and absolutely perfect for those hunting and fishing trips. That should sell really well. Can't wait. Oh, BTW: 14:29 look at the person in the background realizing they are shooting the video. :)

Not only is the crosstrek more than enough for camping and fishing, but my cadillac ats has been all over the east coast for week long camping trips with 3 mountain bikes and tons of accompanying gear. Vehicles are way oversized these days.

It’s called a CVT but it doesn’t have a chain like a typical CVT, it’s a planetary gear based design. No idea why they called it a CVT, which is a negative to most people.

Can you leave the ac on where it just runs of the hybrid battery and the engine only turns on a few minutes every hour to recharge the hybrid battery? All the toyota, honda, and ford hybrids do this

I'm torn on these. I'm glad to see a hybrid come in with much needed extra power and MPG boost. However, we found our 2020 forester seats to be wildly uncomfortable compared to our Ford. So I was puzzled to see the seats called comfortable here. Two, our Subaru was at the dealer for 9 weeks to fix the AC at 34k miles (out of warranty due to age so $$$). We didn't find the seats to be any different on the 5 different loaners we had. Three, the car still has other infotainment issues we just aren't wanting to spend the $ to fix after this last fiasco and now the dash has bad rattles after this AC work. I want to like Subaru, but they are making it really hard. I think we are done with this brand.

I just need Subaru to make that gorgeous bright Oasis Blue available on this new hybrid Crosstrek Hybrid. It's available on the Impreza and JDM Crosstrek. Apart from that, I'll still wait a few years for Subaru to replace the horrid laggy infotainment screen with the new infotainment spotted on the next generation Outback prototype that includes physical climate controls, hallelujah

There were leaked images of the new Forester having Toyotas proprietary infotainment system. I’m disappointed it didn’t make it into the Crosstrek (yet). That would’ve made it a home run but i’m sure the Crosstrek will still sell well regardless.

i understand that this thing does not use their traditional CVT but rather the toyota's two-motor THS e-CVT. But what about their mild-hybrid "e--boxer" as well as the PHEV? Do they use e-CVT or regular CVT?

Same engine in the next Outback would be great, current Gen 6 2.5L is limited to 169PS in UK/EU and the Forrester & Crosstrek stuck with awful rev-hanging 2.0L version. They need to fix the engines and CVT. Turbo engine models would be very welcome. Gloss black plastic/trim should be banned, and a nice green paint like Cascade Green on Forrester would be preferred. Great to see camera changes/improvements.

It is an inappropriate mechanical layout to use the FB25, a short-stroke engine, in a hybrid system. The short expansion stroke and large heat loss surface area make it unsuitable for maximizing fuel efficiency. This is akin to asking a sprinter to complete a marathon.

Japan is my guess. I understand that the Wilderness trims come from Indiana, and that is probably why there is no Wilderness Hybrid being announced. It seems to be only the trims that Japan makes.

@ …..I found out about this issue while watching videos on the BRZ/GR86. Both these cars that have the Subaru 2.5L and are plagued with this, especially if you track them. I believe there is a class action lawsuit against Subaru if I’m not mistaken. The lawsuit covers the 2022-23 but 2024 and ‘25 owners are also experiencing this RTV issue in their oil lines. Wasn’t the other engine’s problem oil leaks and/or head gaskets? Not sure, I’m not up to speed on all the Subaru engines…and their issues.

Functional Subaru but not the best looker. Hate those black plastic wheel arches and tacky plastic surrounds around turn signals. On my third subie so this might replace the imprezza that gets a decent 32 mpg at 70+. Plus bring back manual HVAC controls as I have no trust with the Subie infotainment being reliable.
