I am discussing it with myself.. I have a Bosch orbital sander and I use it constantly. I have gone through three velcro pads. That equals the cost of the sander... I hope the festool last longer.

I was the same way, swore up and down I'd never own the evil green... However after growing tired of the hand fatigue I started looking at better sanders. Mirka. Surfprep, ekasand and festool. Could not be happier with my ets ec 125, and now purchasing their midi to compliment it.

@R W buy the 125 and then purchase have the 150 pad separately. You cannot use a 125 pad on a 150 sander though, so you get best of both when you buy the 125.

Hey man. Love the vibe! and the hound at the end. I build rocking chairs, and have been using the Rotex 125 exclusively. It'a beast to hold, but my oh my does it give a lovely shine with 800 grit paper. So I've been checking out lighter sanders, something to finish the chairs with, something that's a little easier on the wrists. I've watched a lot of videos on the ETS 125 and based on my experience with the Rotex, the ETS 125 is the way to go. Thanks for taking the time to make the content! Keep going. And keep the hound.

Food for Thought to others .You spent close to $300 on all the other sanders before the EC125. That cost $385 in 2017 when you'd had a bit of experience with sanders. If you'd bought the best then, your cost wouldn't have been much more than your aggregate spend over the years and you'd have had the benefit of the great sander for longer.

I finally got one of these to replace the Bosch I have been using, and the difference between the two is like night and day. I always had to hand sand a fair amount after I was done with the Bosch to get rid of the swirl marks, which is hard for me due to a back injury. With the Festool I don't have to come back. It is an amazing sander, and well worth the money in my opinion. Edit: both the 125 and 150 have the same 400W motors. The ETS 125, not the ETS EC 125, is their entry model at $249: the EC has more balls and is more ergonomic IMO.

I first heard of Festool about six years ago. I couldn't afford any of their products back then but have since jumped in. I took one sip of the green Kool-Aid and can't stop. I introduced a buddy of mine who many years ago worked in a furniture shop but has since moved onto bigger and better things. He has been woodworking much longer than I, he even gave me some of his tools when he moved one time. About a year and a half ago I introduced him to Festool. A couple of months later he went and bought the Festool Midi and dust separator, and the ETS 150. He won't stop raving about how good it works. He keeps sending me images of his work with it. I think he looks for projects just so he can have something to sand. 🤣🤣🤣

Great video! I too called the woodcraft mgr crazy if he thought I would pay $500 for a sander. I then laid down $80 for a pretend sander. About a year later I bought the festool 6” sander and love it. Fortunately I found a used festool 26 vac to go with it and reduce some of the pain. Best purchase I made because I use it on every project. Lesson number two: Don’t buy cheap sandpaper!

I used to think Festool was overpriced. Then I bought the Rotex. Wow. Then I bought the MIDI dust collector. I love the Rotex but man, it’s a work out. So I just bought this sander. I make a lot of river tables, and wood/epoxy charcuterie boards. Using this after using the Rotex to knock the high spots down makes life so much better. In the end, well worth the money IMHO. Why ETS 125 vs the ETS 150 since you use both at work? Was it price alone? I like the idea of sanding faster so thinking 6in sander, but currently have 5in and a lot of 5in paper. Wondering if there are any downsides to the 6in that made you go with the 5in sander?
@TheReformationWoodshop3 жыл бұрын
I’ve used the 125 and 150 and just don’t feel like the little bit of difference between the two was good enough for me to spend that extra $100. I’m in the same boat with the sandpaper so I’m keeping my 5 inch on until I run out of paper. The 6 inch is definitely better though 🙌🏼

I bought the 2.5mm orbit 6" 3M, but honestly like the ETS 150 5mm orbit a lot more. The 3m sander with the cubitron II has great dust collection, but feels off balanced in the middle of the speed settings. Even with the 2.5mm.orbit version it will hog some wood. I found the ETS has better ergonomics too.
@JustinsCustomDesigns2 жыл бұрын
Just purchased this sander and like it so far. It does seem to jump around on this surface and is hard to control at time though. This happens with and without dust hose connected and with the festool paper and with another manufacturers pap per as well. Any idea why the control is so poor? My 50 dollar toshiba handles better.
@TheReformationWoodshop2 жыл бұрын
The balance should be top tier. Maybe your pad is not sitting right? Try turning down the speed and see how it handles. If it still wobbles it’s most likely the machine. If it doesn’t maybe the top speed is just a tad too much for ya.
@417goose2 жыл бұрын
I believe you're encountering grain and surface irregularities. The sandpaper is griping and at sometimes it wants to hop and jar left or right. Slow down a bit and move at a consistent speed.
