I remember in 2001, I was 11 years old and my mother just died and my father was raising 3 kids on his own. We were so poor that we pawned almost everything in our house except our TV, beds and Refrigerator. We pawned our VCR and PS1 for $50 just to keep food on the table. So life at the time was like living in a camping shed lol. One night, my Dad thought it would be a good idea to try his luck at bingo and hope he would win- and he did! He won $6000 that night! The next day I remember coming home from school and my Dad was sitting outside the house having a cigarette waiting for me and he said to me “Son, I’m going to buy you a ps2 tonight”. I remember being so happy that day lol. Especially when we lost both our PS1 and VCR just to replace it with a ps2 which had a built in PS1 and DVD player (DVD was the newest tech then). Moral of the story, PS2 meant more to me than just a console. It gave me hope and joy just for that little moment when I was a 11 year old kid even though when I thought at times, my world was coming to an end.

(2005) I still remember the day when my dad & I had gone to the video game store get our famiclone repaired and we saw a guy there playing a game console with killer 3D graphics and upon asking, he told us it's "the PlayStation". The name stuck in my head and few days later, my dad took me to the local Sony store and they showed us the latest PlayStation 2 Slim which my dad promised to gift me next summer if I topped the third grade. I got the first rank & dad fulfilled my dream which came in a yellow box. I couldn't sleep that night as I kept looking at the console kept near our CRT. Owning the PS2 felt like a great achievement and I still have it me. Thanks Dad for giving me these golden memories.

Owned first slim model as a teenager in about 2007. Was my second console after PlayStation 1. Can't explain the feelings I had when I was a kid when I first carried it home all hyped up to hell in anticipation to play it. Was incredible upgrade to my PS1 I was happy as never. In fact PS was my first things to ever enjoy video games. Didn't have PC back then and I think it's a good fact that I still prefer gaming on console instead of PC. Great video man, very tender-aesthetic approach to making the whole unboxing and it's very pleasant to watch you taking care of this honey as every PlayStation fan would. This was the first time I remember a console being impossible to get at launch. eBay had recently arrived and this was when we were all introduced to console price gouging. I’m sure it may have happened with earlier systems but eBay made it so much easier for scalpers. There was even some rumor that Saddam Hussein was hoarding PS2 systems because some of its components were useful for missile guidance lol.

that unboxing just make me sad, you dont know my pain. Here is a story i want to tell you. My parents decided to buy a PS2 for my brother, we got the PS2 in 2005. My brother loves it then i was born (january 11 2006 or so), it was awesome. My dad was going to try some new "games" for my PS2 and it was pirated. Oh man i was like 5 or 6 years old... when i first saw the PS2 RSoD, it didn't actually scared me, because for me it was just a red portal thing. The saddest thing i had to do is throw away my PS2 in 2016, i didn't have a AV cable for it, and the reader was dead. That's my story! Please like it, it means something to me : )

Everyone is saying kids won't understand but I'm 14 and the ps2 was my first and favorite console I still use it sometimes. My favorite games were GTA San Andreas, Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, and Call of Duty World at War Final Fronts. The times were amazing.
