48:38 YES the sanctification process does facilitate that process of demons leaving a believers life! They hate holiness, they don't want to remain in a cleaned out house. I think that is also a good approach to alleviate fear. The holy spirit reveals the things of the heart as we walk in the spirit of God. I remember when I first started learning about spiritual warfare and demons it scared me because I started thinking I might have the demon of anything/everything. You know how that goes. I remember confessing every single thing I could think of all the time. even generational stuff that I "might" have. That itself became a laborious bondage and drained me spiritually and actually caused me to start to doubt the voice of God. Like genuinely questioning whether the voice I knew as God was actually the voice of God or a demon. Confusion actually came in for a while where before, I knew I could discern the spirit of God and his voice. Finally, I just remember praying one time to the Lord b/c I was just honestly worn out...Especially because I am a person who is physically ill and have not been healed and thought it may be a demon. I remember God telling me Rebecca, if you have a demon, I'm going to tell you. I want you walking in holiness, I want you free in me and you are seeking that. Abide in me, and I will abide in you. Stop striving and just abide. Me abiding in you..... That is MY promise to my sheep. Stop thinking everything is a demon. Its not. If you have something there that you need freedom from, I will bring it to your heart and mind to confess to me. Until then, rest in me and just walk with me. That honestly helped a lot. I am still learning and I've never done a deliverance on anyone but, I know that time will come. I know God will use me for his glory. Right now, I am learning to abide in the assurance of my God and just learning to deepen relationship with him. Relationship & obedience brings the power of the holy spirit to the forefront and allows the spirit to operate fully in the believers life. Obey him daily and to rely on his spirit for direction in all things. I loved this discussion. Thanks guys!

I work in a behavioral health clinic and so many clients coming in who have been cutting themselves, hearing voices, and all kinds of other behaviors. I believe that demonization is a much bigger problem than people realize. Saw a report this morning of a ten year old girl who sees ghosts and communicates with them. Apparently, it’s something that runs in her family. I don’t necessarily think it’s a generational thing but more likely this girl has been exposed to what her mother, etc, were doing, and some abuse no doubt, and became demonized as a result. I don’t know. But she’s getting therapy now because of her behavior in school and other reasons. You cannot tell me that these people just have a mental or behavioral issue. They are plain out demonized. Obviously not all are, but I would say, just my opinion, that at least 3/4 are. It’s heartbreaking and they aren’t getting the real help and deliverance they need. Just a bandaid and drugs to silence the loudest demons.

great conversation, so thankful for your ministry! didn't start attending church until adulthood and proceeded to attend cessation believing churches. Brought up a family and all was well until my oldest became addicted to heroin. Unfortunately my church had no clue as to how to help. Years of prayer and struggle led me to a retired missionary pastor who performed deliverance. I do (and my son as well) believe some demons left but not all. Addiction is baffling and insidious. I remember the pastor saying "I don't believe demons cause addiction but I believe they make it much worse". I have come to believe this to be true. For years I have sought teaching on deliverance and truly as you all have said there's not a whole lot out there and some of what is ... is ridiculous. Karl Payne's book on deliverance is very balanced and so far has been a great resource. As for my son, he is experiencing the longest stretch of sobriety he has ever had (2.5 yrs). I could write a book on the ways God has sovereignly intervened in his life over the years and I have no doubt He has a plan for him. He is seeking Christ daily and as you all discussed the sanctification process makes it difficult for any demon to remain. What the enemy brought to my house for destruction God has turned around for His glory. I have seen addiction rip families apart leaving such destruction in it's wake. The deliverance pastor once told me he believes there are Christians walking around with all manners of illnesses and disorders that are connected to demons but the church today largely avoids the subject as the plague. While I agree that not everyone is oppressed I certainly believe the number is much much greater than most would readily accept. Please continue to offer thoughtful conversations on the matter as I believe it is one of the most needed subjects the church faces today.

Yes, I agree completely. I am nearly finished with this video but it seems they didn't directly address this particular question/scenario. They did in a way I suppose when Michael R stated we have a greater measure of the Holy Spirit than those in the old covenant. However, I don't know if I can agree with that. The Holy Spirit only in dwelt certain individuals in the old testament and sometimes only for specific tasks. While the Holy Spirit has always been at work, the indwelling of all believers didn't take place until Pentecost. Therefore, I think it is more accurate to say all believers now can be filled with the Holy Spirit whereas only certain people could before. We have the example Jesus gave of the person who has a demon cast out and it goes to desolate places and ends up returning with other more wicked demons to find a clean house. That story implies if you have a demon come out and don't have anything to fill the house afterwards (the Holy Spirit), then you will be in danger of having it happen again but even worse. That would also imply if the house now has the Holy Spirit, that scenario wouldn't happen. We also have the story of King Saul. He didn't get tormented by an evil spirit until after the Spirit of the Lord had left him. Seems very coincidental that the evil spirit didn't enter Saul until AFTER the Spirit of the Lord has left him. Saul had already disobeyed God prior to this and therefore could have been tormented by the evil spirit while the Spirit of the Lord was in him according to theory presented in this video but that isn't what happens. Not definitive proof but enough to make you question if you can have demon and the Holy Spirit in you at the same time.

The strong man is the devil- NOT the Holy Spirit. ““When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder.” Luke 11:21-22 Josh- please look into this- you reference this verse constantly, referring to the strong man as the Spirit when the context shows this is the devil. I am willing to be debated on this, but there is NO force stronger than the spirit- Jesus is explaining that he would have to be STRONGER than the devil in order to drive out his possessions and disarm him.

Re: deliverance in a gentler or less “dramatic” way, dr Karl Payne has a book called Spiritual Warfare where he outlines laying down ground rules for the unclean spirits before you really engage with the deliverance, in order that the deliveree and any persons in the vicinity are not traumatized, and the spirits are not permitted to go crazy. What we see in the bible are violent deliverances, foaming at the mouth, shouting etc So I understand what you mean, demons can leave the body without you knowing. BUT, if you really go for the stronger demons, and ruin their house, they will manifest themselves as they ARE. So that’s why you see the spirit manifest through the hands, eyes , etc. And I also believe they have a right to manifest that way, because that person let them in through agreement with sin, and if it came through a generational curse, they will manifest themselves the same way. It depends what demon it is, some cry, some shout, some are quiet.

Do you guys think its just not Gods plan for some people that they cant speak in tongues, or rather than deliverance proper may give way to a slower healing process? Because there are many men and women of God I highly respect (Dr. Michael Heiser, Elizabeth Elliot, etc) who never spoke in tongues or cast out demons in the charismatic sense but were obviously godly lovers of Jesus. Is it a one size fits all thing? Or do you think God considers a persons personality and history and just decides that maybe they will have prophetic dreams but not speak in tongues?

@@7thheaventruth Just for context. Can you sight where in the Bible it says it could be demonic tongues. I only ask because I've never read that before in the Bible. If I'm in prayer and meditating on God and his word I don't understand how a gift given by God through the spirit would just manifest demonicaly. Also I don't prescribe to the notion of if somebody has gifts he's better or more Christian. A foot can't boast to a hand ones usefulness being more important than the other. Plus we should not boast in our gifts because they are just that gifts from God. Not actually coming from just us.
@ryandawson2877 Жыл бұрын
One of the gifts of the spirit that can be involved in casting out demons would be workings of miracles. This can be found in Mark nine I think around verse 39, where someone was casting out demons that the disciples didn’t know, and Jesus said, no man can work this miracle or power, except God be with him. In acts eight around verse six, the people gave heed to Philip the evangelist because of the miracles“which he did “, for unclean spirits, cried out with a loud voice, and they which were sick of the palsy were healed, and many that were lame were healed. So the casting out of demons, at least, in this context, is workings of miracles. Then in acts 19, God wrought special miracles through the hands of Paul, when cloths and aprons were sent out from his body, and people were healed and delivered of demons. So deliverance is referred to as a miracle at least three times in the book of acts.
@PC-vg8vn Жыл бұрын
You didnt mention Jesus' rebuking of his disciples for being unable to cast out a spirit from a particular individual, apparently because just asking for it to leave was not enough - it required prayer (and possibly fasting depending on which manuscript you believe). I believe Michael missed the mark in the explanation of the word “foothold” in regard to Eph.4:27. The Greek word there {topos) means an opportunity or occasion, it DOES NOT refer to “real estate/” possession or control. Only the NIV and NLT translates the word topos as “foothold.” We do not have scripture that shows a New Covenant believer having the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of them being demon possessed.
@michaelmiller5024 Жыл бұрын
Let's perhaps choose some kinder and less condescending words. We who call Christ our savior can kindly disagree. Regarding "foothold" the same word means space or territory in other passages. We also have the passage on meat sacrificed to idols and Paul saying I do not want you to be "sharers with demons." The word there is the same for fellowship. There's enough biblical evidence as well as early church evidence to make the case so perhaps we can agree to disagree but do so with charity.

@@michaelmiller5024 I was not trying to be condescending and I apologize if that’s how I came across. I will edit my response to hopefully not appear that way because that isn’t my intent. When it comes to generational curses, that seems to me to be demonic, strongholds within the family that goes from generation to generation to generation. A lot of times people know if that is an issue. I don’t encourage people to try to dredge up things that they don’t even know happened, but if a person has open doors that they know about, I do encourage them to renounce or to repent of them and close the doors. We are not to give place to the devil. If they refuse to forgive, that’s a problem because they’ll be handed over to the tormentors. So I don’t think we should be imagining things that are that really or not, but if there are open doors, they definitely need to be closed.

The ministry that Jesus has is to proclaim truth, to preach the kingdom, to preach faith and repentance has been passed over to you but within that is the ministry to cast out demons has also been given to you...pray for the sick and cast out devils. It's something we ought to do, and it's something we should be embracing and asking God to lead us and guide in that space." - Joshua @59:48 "'I'm open but cautious' is not an option. There is a way to grow in these things. We have a million videos on this. Just go through the Remnant play list we have on casting out demons...I think we try to talk about it in a responsible way...This is a compassion issue. Jack Deere's definition of the spiritual gifts is it's 'empowered love.' I want to love people like Jesus loved them. Jesus set the oppressed free, He healed the sick, and He cast out demons. Be voracious about this. Go rad, pursue it radically if you want to be Christ-like. Do it like Jesus did." - Michael Rowntree

As far as Christian being demon possessed, I believe we need to keep the categories clearly separated. Possession, oppression, footholds, and even tormented as in a thorn in the flesh. Christian can have all but Possession. I don't see why we need to make it a point to win that Christian's can be possessed. Isn't Possession, footholds and torment bad enough? All the arguments pre death burial and resurrection are mute. The new covenant was not established until Jesus took back ALL authority. Also, the work of the Holy Spirit was a completely new thing never experienced before. Jesus didn't say it was needful for me to go away so that the Holy Spirit can come the way he did before. The born-again experience of receiving a new spirit and receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the expression of the New Covenant. I also think if you believe Christians can be demon possessed that it may be something that you want to keep yourself from keeping your brother from stumbling. Just like eating meat or drinking wine you don't want to do it in front of your brother who to him it is sin. I believe that demons can cause a physical sickness so therefore it makes sense that it would appear that it's being cast out of someone because they are throwing up or gagging. If Paul had a spirit that was tormenting him for his whole life oh, I don't think we can say Paul remain demon-possessed until he died. Pretend to take the scripture for what it says a evil spirit was given to him to torment him and keep him humble. We don't have to understand completely everything about God and the spirit realm we walk by faith. Our faith is in Jesus not in our understanding.

What do you guys think about Derek Price or Frank Hammond when it comes to deliverance resources?

Derek Prince very good. Biblically sound. I don't know much about the other gentleman.

The references to the children of Israel having demons is null as the Holy Spirit had not come upon them at the time yet. Christians should not go around saying the devil made me do it.

I know this is anecdotal…buuuut..I’ve been around Baptist circles, AG circles, hyper charismatics, and anything in between. As a careful charismatic (or at least a continuationist) myself, I haven’t met Baptist or any cessationist with POSSESSED BY demons 😂 maybe oppressed by though

When a demon manifests unexpectedly is that like, God turning the spirit inside out and they should be cast out- even if the individual is not a believer?

Nobody like the concept of generational curses, but what if they have proven true in our experience? I appreciate the desire to not be formulaic, or get people afraid about the past that they don’t know, but the example you cited of a man who got healed of asthma, and his family member, likewise, because he renounced freemasonry is instructive, because who doesn’t have Masonry in their family line? Why not simply pray a prayer and break any potential curses it doesn’t have to be scripted… We don’t see Jesus, breaking generational curses, but there is old testament basis for curses due to disobedience. Yes, Christ redeemed us from curses on the cross, but are all the effects of such curses automatically nullified for the new believer? Does not alcoholism, pass down family lines? Do we not notice patterns of diseases, and all kinds of problems in family lines? Although healing and deliverance were accomplished in the cross, just like freedom from generational, curses, does not healing and deliverance, often work itself out in the life of the believer?

Great resource would be Derek Prince. Isaiah Saldivar is solid too, and he learned a lot from Derek Prince's teachings.

They had Isaiah as a guest so if they didn’t mention him that must mean something 🤷🏻♂️

I agree Derek Prince is a good one and he uses scripture. It may just be that they didn't think of Isaiah Saldivar not that they aren't "endorsing" him in the course of the discussion.
@Grace4rever Жыл бұрын
Salvidar has teamed up with Greg Locke, Locke left his wife for his assistant and now does ministry with his new wife. Locke is unqualified and the fact that Isaiah ignores that to team up with him is major red flags!! Not saying that is why they didn't reference him but for me I struggle to listen to someone that teams up with adulterers, his discernment is clearly lacking and where else is his discernment lacking? Isaiah also takes deliverance ministry too far, saying that we need deliverance every 6 months?? Demons are constantly getting into Christians and they constantly need deliverance, this is not biblical. Do I believe Christians can de demonized, yes, but Isaiah takes it too far.
@Sirazucar Жыл бұрын
@@CesarA365 it can be tough giving an endorsement to another public figure as the Internet is forever, people can mess up or cause drama, and viewers might take your recommendation regarding a specific teaching from someone and think you sign off on everything they say. I don't have a platform to worry about and can personally recommend Prince and Saldivar as I've found them to be solid (by my standards) after 30+ hrs of teaching from either of them.
@TheWayWalker Жыл бұрын
@@Grace4rever Didn't Greg Locke confess and repent for his Adultery? I could be wrong but I am pretty sure that in one of his videos he said that the Lord had humbled in many ways. I believe biblically a person can be restored even after adultery so I don't count him disqualified biblically IF he has confessed and gone through the restoration process. I could be wrong on whether he did or not though. If he hadn't then I would 100% agree with you on the unqualified point. I've listened to Isaiah Saldivar for a long time and I've never heard him say you need deliverance every six months. Did you hear him say this directly on a video or something? I have heard him say that you need to confess sin regularly and ask the Lord to reveal to you if there is deliverance needed.. in regards to having open doors and closing them but I've never heard a blanket statement for a regular deliverance like seeing a doctor 🤔. If he has said that then that would be a bit weird. I will say, I am not sure I believe in things he teaches like "the spirit of Jezebel or Marine spirit or Octopus spirit or whatever other name". I think sometimes people take things or characteristics from people in the Bible where spirits are mentioned and they incorrectly infer those persons characteristics onto this "spirit". So now this "spirit" will have these characteristics and here's how you know if you have it kind of thing. I think scripturly that takes things a bit too far. We don't see scripture describing all these spirits characteristics and how to determine them. I think those things are assumed and inferred. Not sure that it is correct but I'm also not in deliverance ministry so I don't have much experience with it. I'm not sure we were meant to figure all that out, just cast them out you know? I think sometimes experience can be presented as gospel formulas which I'm not so sure about that. That is just my opinion though I could totally be wrong. As far as Isaiah Saldivar's bible teaching? He is biblically sound on what I've heard 🙂

Jesus Christ has already delivered us from the power of sin, the power of darkness. it no longer has dominion over us. this deliverance ministry doesn’t align with that truth by saying they are delivering people who are already in Christ. Christ disarmed the power of principalities at the cross (Colossians 2:15) the holy spirit and a demon cannot dwell in the same person

Correct - Christians can not be possessed, but can be oppressed by a demon.
