Yeah, it was subpar, but considering that italian food is usually expensive, it seemed like the cheapest "italian" inspired food you could possibly get. We're talking $1. I experienced that mysterious "completely devoid of flavor" thing once, it was at a local deep dish pizza place, both my dining companion and i just kind of exchanged glances when we started eating the pizza... It was utterly flavorless, no exaggeration, it was as if a prank was being played on us and we were on candid camera or something. I don't even know how it was possible, I mean it had to take some sort of effort and skill to achieve this result, there was no way it could have just been a weird accident.

No, not merely salt, but any and all elements of flavor. Adding salt (which we tried at the table) merely made it a lightly salt-flavored pizza, made up of salt-flavored cheese, salt-flavored sauce, and salt flavored crust. It was so weird because all the proper textures were present, but zero taste or aroma...I think we maybe even ordered it with some toppings, but I can't remember (and they were equally devoid of flavor anyway)

I had this up here in Canada and I think it's the 'chicken patty', they somehow made a fried chicken patty with negative flavor and texture, it makes the sandwich worse by being there, not to mention their 'marinara' which I think is a marvel of engineering in that they used tomatoes to make some kind of ketchup that just tastes like the texture of gloop.

Funnily enough, BK Germany also currently offers an Italian-style chicken sandwich, but it's completely different from this one. First of all, it's a variant of the "Crispy Chicken", a circular instead of longish chicken sandwich with extra-crispy breading that's part of BK's regular menu in Germany, and instead of Mozarella and Marinara, the special ingrediant that makes it "Italian" is a pesto-based sauce.

I only eat fast food about two or three times a year and it's almost always Wendy's. I hadn't eaten Burger King in probably 20 years and they were sending me coupons. One day I was staring at the sheet of coupons that came in the mail and said Fuck It.. it was finally time to fall for the bait. I got 2 junior whoppers and they were edible. It's worth noting that there was a Burger King less than a mile from my house for the last 15 years that closed right before this.. I did go there once, but I don't count it as a Burger King visit, per se, because all I went there for was a strawberry shake, which ended up making me deathly ill for the following 24 hours.

Their chicken patty's were institutional food. The last time I ate there, the chicken patty meat had a grey color. The exact same quality of patty's we served at the institution I worked. (I forgot to add that Burger King also fried my patty in dirty oil) That was fifteen years ago, and I have never been back to Burger King. It looks like they whitened up the meat since I was last there, but I guess it tastes the same.

The only thing good I can say about their chicken sandwich is, a few years ago they sent out coupons for 2 sandwiches and 2 medium fries...... for $4.99. It was the best deal I recall them ever having (ARP was close to $14 after tax) and they sent them out for months. Whether it was a screw-up that nobody noticed, or they were just begging people to eat their excess slop in stock.... it was still a terrible sandwich. But at least the price was right.

The funny thing is I have always used a coupon for those chicken sandwiches because I know they are always bad. One time I brought one without a coupon and it was the best tasting sandwich I have ever had. And I started to wonder if it is because I use a coupon they they always give me a sandwich that has been sitting there in the warmer for hours and refired twice to make it greasy and awful. I don't know. Maybe the stores suck because the workers don't care. I know they usually don't.

I'll never forget the time I stopped eating fast food for a while. When I went back and got some nuggets from Wendy's, I swore I had gotten COVID because I couldn't taste anything. There are many legitimate complaints I could see having about fast food, but flavorless? It's 100% the opposite, these things are so loaded with salt and spices to cover the poor meat quality that it's too much flavor, if anything.

I used to be a mgr at Burger King years ago. I don’t get much from them anymore. Obviously once you’ve had everything at BK you lose the taste for it. But also their prices have gotten ridiculous. I can see BK slowly going away. While I haven’t had the Italian chicken since probably the late 90s early 2000s, I have had the regular chicken sandwiches. And I can tell the chicken doesn’t taste the same. It’s much dryer now. Probably changed stuff to save money. How all these companies do and in doing so sacrifice quality in its place

I have to disagree, the original chicken sandwich tastes to me exactly as it did when I was a teenager and worked there for six months, and never got tired of eating it. It's essentially is a large chicken nugget, before they ruined their chicken nuggets with the new bland kind, but this item is perfectly crispy salty and peppery and with mayonnaise and lettuce it to me really tastes exactly like it used to. The newer chicken sandwiches that are big thick breaded round chunks to me seem to have more mystery gristle and have that stringy chicken texture that the more processed original sandwich doesn't have. To me, the McDonald's chicken nuggets and the Burger King nuggets and the fries made in beef Tallow tasted so much better but I know they're not coming back so I am happy this is one of the few classic items that has retained the same shape taste and texture that I remember eating almost every day while working at the restaurant. In the attempt to be able to advertise all white meat chicken not made from pieces parts they have managed to make take all of the taste out of them and depend on dipping sauces, the original nuggets although more processed with different cuts of chicken had their own taste that I actually liked a lot. This chicken sandwich, in its original form not the weird Italian special, is a great, filling, tasty sandwich that I would recommend to anyone especially if they used to enjoy them in the past. No it is not gourmet and no they can't say it's 100% chicken breast but this is fast food and it is really tasty it's not bland "healthy" food.

I have heavy nostalgia for this item from back in the 80s/90s as a kid, but having had it once during these recent comebacks either my tastes have moved incredibly far beyond this or they lost the 90s recipe and decided to just make up a replacement out of wood shavings, plastic, and food coloring. While one part of it is certainly that fast food chicken has greatly improved, I definitely remember it having actual significant flavor in the 'marinara' sauce, of tangy tomato and herbs. This new Food Brick™ was the same for me as your experience: dry, flavorless, and depressing. :(

That sandwich was at it best in the late 70's-80's when it was first introduced. The best fast food Italian chicken sandwich I remember having was the one from Wendy's in the mid 80's. I also loved the Pizza Hut meatball sandwich back them too. The BKs where I live are almost completely gone. With this, I understand. What sucks is deregulation has done this here in fast food. I'm willing to bet, the BK in Dubai or any foreign market is far superior!
