The Youth Development System in Spain is second to none, Spanish Coaches are tactical and in LaLiga teams are comfortable in possession, they pride in technical ability, and it is one of the leagues that still promote a lot of player expression. The scary thing about this Spanish Team is that I have no doubt between now and World Cup 2016 they'll find some new Spanish Talent. Their Youth System is unbelievable. I always say that a league plays a part in how the national team plays. You can literally dip your hand in every LaLiga Club and Find a proper midfielder. The first Spain game I watched all year was the win against Italy in the group stage. What I found most striking wasn't the quality with the ball (was never lost since the mid 2000s), and the newfound tactical variety that has proven so difficult to defend against It was the attitude. Here there were, a team full of little known players, some really young as discussed, playing the finals of a major tournament, and they had *zero* respect to show for this Italy that were title defenders. That pattern would repeat itself in the other games, except perhaps that second half against Germany. That lack of self-awareness, and blatant disregard for the ghosts of the past, was what told me then that they well may make it big this time. I wasn't disappointed.

Finally football and strategics is played by the players so a team has to adapt the strategic to the players that you have on every moment... having posession worked for the 2008 generation because we had the best midfielders in the world (iniesta, xavi, silva, cesc, Busquet, Xabi Alonso, Cazorla...) but once they were gone it is impossible to intend playing in the same way, this is why HIerro and Luis Enrique failed as managers, they tried to play in the same way with not so talented players. For Spain possesion is important still but they have been able to adapt this philosophy to the most talented players in the country.

The main thing they have going for them is a clear way of playing and bravery. In terms of players, looking to the future it is a mixed bag. The midfield future looks great. Up front the options are quite limited, Morata is nearing retirement and the first option behind the two youngsters is still Ferran Torres. At the back Carvajal, Laporte, Navas and Nacho are close to retirement, Le Normand is really not that good when under real pressure, Unai Simon is good but not brilliant.
