I've been struggling to find a way to model framing on a curved slope. This video is a great help. I'm working with a similar situation, but I need to use curved beams that are also sloping - much like the ends of the roof in this model. This has helped me with the intermediate framing members, now off to figure out the edge beams. Again, thank you!

could you solve the automatic rotation that gives to curved sloped beams?

@@checo5098 same situation. The beam got attached from the center but we need that the beam face also be parallel to the bottom roof or slab selected face.

Nice little tutorial! Hopefully autodesk adds more category by face flexibility in future so we can use the right categories in the right scenarios

@TheRevitKid this is very nice! Now, can we go beyond and make those beams hosted to the mass, so when we change the mass, the beams are updated automatically?

Great tutorial!!! Thanks for posting! I am trying to build a similar graph however, I would like to keep the beam sizes in my model. Any idea how we could proceed?

What if I want the surface to follow the beams and I already have the beams I just want the face to follow them .. what should I do?

Hi Jeff! Thanks for the video! The select face node doesn't work with me and gives me an error (Warning: One or more geometries have failed to convert due to this error: trim_with_edge_loops requires all curves to touch surface One or more geometries have failed to convert due to this error: trim_with_edge_loops requires all curves to touch surface) Do you know how I can fix that?

That could be a million different things... Without seeing your surface/face or your project it's hard to help. I would say post the issue on the Dynamo Forum... or shoot me an email.

@@TheRevitKid Thank you for the response ! I just figured it out today. It turned out I was hiding the in-place surface after I created the roof by face, and dynamo wasn't picking it up. So I unhid the face and selected it again.

You'll need a few extra Dynamo nodes but it can be done!

Can we make just this form without using dynamo??
@TheRevitKid

ALi Bilgin - hey! The roof form itself was made using the massing tools. Dynamo is simply modeling actual structural beam families that follow the form. Cheers!

It wouldn’t be too complicated to make this zero touch you you just need to define an array of lines through geometric logic.
