Hello hello! Comissioner here! Originally, the my next comission for round 7 was supposed to be Turtle-ly Koopa-cular Ninja Power! (1980 TMNT vs Koopa Bros [TMNT vs Paper Mario]) but when I was looking for songs, Checkmate appears on my watch again list. Then I remembered the live chat on that premier. So I scrapped the 4 v 4 turtle power in favor for this matchup. After hearing the music, it was one of the best decision I ever made. I'm still planning a 4 v 4 commission soon though, but let's just say there's a hiccup at my end, so it'll take a while. That being said.... Who's up for Mightiest?

This is close. Sword is larger and more experienced with how it is used and the fights it has been through, while Pen is only a weapon in desperate situations. But Pen is more creative; he can draw anything into existence, only limitations being his imagination and ink can run out. But the sword can cut through everything Pen continually draws until the blade is dull. So it comes down to who can wear each other first.

@@togekiss1995 the only reason why it orked on Rock was because Rock is way to slow to stop Pen from drawing. Sword is much faster compared to rock, especially with technices like quick slash and hundret stab which he learned on his journey. And if Pen is allowed to team up with his friend Paper then Sword should be allowed to team up with his partner Shield, and she was clearly one of the most overpowered characters in the show.

After critically acclaimed "Mighty" and its sequel "Strongest Alive", Therewolf Media brings you... Wait a second this isn't the right matchup for that ! Honestly when I first saw this matchup I really hoped it would go for a stereotypical epic and grand track because IMO the best type of joke track is the one where the track not only fits the joke it's meant to represent but also sounds freaking amazing while doing so. And this is no exception. But first a slight note to give appreciation to the track art which I really like, the background and ink splashes looking like paper while the pen is being cut by the sword that it's drawing itself is a really nice combo that perfectly fits the matchup and the saying it's made after ("the pen is mightier than the sword" because while the sword is cutting the pen, the pen is the one that drew the sword meaning that the latter couldn't have cut the former without the former creating it in the first place). Also slight fun fact that Therewolf said in première chat that I felt like noting here too: this track has a BPM of 171, making it exactly 1BPM above Mighty which means that this track is truly Mightier than Mighty. Now for the track itself. Well as I said above it's really freaking good and I love how much care and personality Therewolf put into the song, it truly feels like it tells a small story as it goes which is insane given the matchup. And for that I'll do the old reliable and go about it chronologically. In the beginning, well as expected it's pretty soft with a very uplifting and upbeat high pitched melody as we can imagine a pen just drawing things normally but then at 0:11 the pen does the mistake of drawing a sword which then comes to life, engaging hostilities at 0:20 as the battle begins. And I really like what's done here with the instruments as the lower pitched guitar meant to represent the sword and the higher pitched synth (I think it's a synth, not sure but for conveniency's sake I'll call it a synth for the rest of the song so forgive me if I'm wrong) meant to represent the pen play in unison. This starts the song's entire dynamic of those two instrument types clashing with one another to represent the fight between both tools. In fact, on a meta level I really like the implications of choosing a guitar for the sword and a synth for the pen. Sure it of course helps to have the sword, which is more "agressive" by nature, to have a more low pitched and brutal instrument while the pen has the opposite but on a more "historical" level it makes sense: the guitar, even if electric, is a more "conventional" instrument, more "archaic", similar to how the sword is a tool of old made to wage conventional war while the pen is a more "modern" tool made to wage battles in a much more versatile and indirect way which fits the synth being a more modern instrument that's also way more versatile in what it can do, meaning that the choice of instruments to represent both tools is done wonderfully here. And this translates in the song in the way the instruments play too. Of course at the beginning both instruments play in unison to reflect how, despite how different they are, both tools have ways to be just as dangerous. But then at 0:40 we get our first variation with the guitar playing a much more constant and melodic riff on repeat while the synth plays a much more chaotic and varied series of notes to showcase of swords are more classic weapons used in more conventional ways while pens are tools that favor creativity and variation. So not only does this segment set the standard of quality for the track by sounding amazing but it also sets a standard in depth by showcasing in song form the abilities of both tools in a really good way. Really I cannot stress enough how impressed that Therewolf managed to make a freaking pen and sword have unique personalities for the song. We then transition at 1:03 in a synth-centric segment with another sequence of melodies that feels very fitting of tool: they're more sporadic and less impactful on their own but they're more varied and dynamic than their sword equivalent to showcase the versatility of the tool. It's a really nice to showcase a pen-focused segment and plays even better considering the segment that follows up after it at 1:23 which is the guitar segment. And as expected for the guitar: it's a classic guitar segment that sounds catchy, dynamic and generally really good to showcase the sword's more conventional uses in contrast to the pen's. This brings me to emphasize just how I like the fact that most of the melodies that aren't duets in this track are straight up mirrors for both instruments/tools. I love songs where one character's lyrics are meant to mirror the other's and the fact that it's done here in instrumental form with the guitar and synth mirroring one another to showcase the pen and sword's different characteristics is something that I adore. Makes the song feel so much more personality-filled and dynamic especially with the fact that those mirrorings are written extremely well. Which leads me to go over to the next unique part of the song at 3:06. I'm not gonna go over the part between the aforementioned guitar solo and this because it's pretty much a repeat of the first sequence of the song, which isn't a bad thing because given how good the sequence is I think it actually helps that it's repeated a second time. But yes, the next segment then starts at 3:06 with a buildup featuring the guitar only and here I really like how it's done because it makes sense. Some people may say that the ending is weird as it barely features the synth/pen up to its final "chorus" but I think it actually fits here that the guitar/sword is the one getting its climactic finish. The sword is by nature something more imposing and powerful which means that it'd take more room and of course would be the one to show off while the pen is more calculative and laid back in how it behaves. So the sword getting its own solo after a buildup makes sense: it'd try to fully take out the pen in one epic and showy ending (and hey, who can complain about another sick Therewolf Media guitar solo ? I sure can't.) But of course this doesn't end the song as the pen comes back at 4:00 with its synth to showcase that this "final attack" didn't bring it down and that it can even stand to stop the sword's ultimate attack, forcing the two on one last even fight where it's anyone's guess as to who will actually win. This ending even gives an ounce of doubt as, if you pay attention, you'll notice that at 4:16 the synth is the first of the two to stop which would hint at a Sword win but surprisingly the outro to the song is played by the synth and features the intro melody which keeps things neutral as to which of the two won in the end. It's a really good conclusion to an already great song. Overall I'd like to say "I didn't expect to like this song this much" but honestly at this point it was to be expected that the track would be this good. The thing I'm surprised in however is how much effort and personality Therewolf put into this track. Sure on the surface it feels somewhat "standard" with both main instruments featured playing "classic" melody tropes for them but I think this actually adds to the song as it fits the tools fighting one another in the matchup: it's meant to be a generality with Pen VS Sword, not, say, Spongebob's Pen VS Dragonslayer or something. So the melodies being somewhat "generic" actually benefits the song. And once again the fact that Therewolf made a song fit personality-wise for a freaking pen and sword is comically impressive. And also, while I didn't really note it I of course must say that I really like the general Mighty inspiration featured into the song even if, as said, it's inspiration more so than referencing (which is even better IMO as it makes the song more unique). So yeah, truly wonderful work with this.

The Climax of this fight would be as such. The Sword has The Pen down, it gathering all the aura of histories mightiest warriors who have ever held a sword, charging up into a Giant Size Sword to once and for all defeat The Pen. When all seems lost, the Pen, in a stroke of genius, quickly draws up figures, figures of fictions most important characters like Superman and Goku, gathering their aura of all the greatest heroes and characters ever drawn by a pen and ink. With both sides completing their final attacks, The Sword swings it's massive attack, while the Pen spear charges towards the Sword. They briefly clash, only for the Pen to blitz past the Sword, which the latter starts shaking and cracking, and through it's cracks, beams of light start spewing out, and the Sword explodes in a blinding light while the Pen holds it's position. The Screen turns completely white, only for the Pen to start writing "The End", transitioning into a paper and desk, all while the Pen goes back into it's cup, taking a nice long break. K.O!

this is a close match. Pen can draw anything it imagine into reality and can resist the Eraser, which can destroy and erase all of reality, while Sword is said that it can cut through anything....but not accurately, like how it's been block by the Shield before, who is indestructible. Sword is on par with the Hammer, who did said that it alone did bend and create Sword's reality, and Pen wrote over Pencil, who has both Pen AND Eraser's abilities...similar to the Hammer......so in hindsight, its a tough call, but Pen is slightly better. it's latest accomplishment is that Pen drew over the Paper, a sheet of infinite white void and Pen alone wrote infinite realities on it. much unlike how Sword has gone against Stone, who is a stronger form of the Brick, which once destroyed the Child, a cosmetic being that can rewrote reality itself. not to mention that the amount of Ink Pen needs to take while writing over the Paper is pretty insane, such as it can scale up to Multi-Pen, who has 10x more Ink than Pen, and Multi-Pen once did wrote over Paper once before. Scaling that with Sword's durability is slightly high in Pen's favor; however, Sword did became severely injured against Stone.

Simply put, the pen is far more modern and has led to far more powerful weaponry being developed and for FAR stronger nations to be developed, such as the USSR and USA. The Sword may be strong, but its ancient barbaric intimidation is ineffective in the face of progress and learning. The Pen truly is mightier than the sword! The winner is the pen.

I’m pretty sure Pen’s got this. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a close fight, and sword DEFINITELY has more combat experience, but we also have to keep Sword’s personality in mind. The guy is powerful, yes, but we see him let his ego get the best of him time and time again, which is what lead to his downfall in the season 1 finale. Couple that with Pen being much more strategic, calm minded, and used to fighting opponents much stronger then him, I say Pen is more than capable enough to whittle down Sword long enough for a killing blow.

@@Neppedupplayer yes, Sword as learned to become a more honorable and humbler warrior, but that was AFTER multiple battles with the main antagonist, obsidian, who he saw as his antithesis, everything Sword DIDN’T want to be. We also gotta remember that when they did Pipe vs Sword, they used feats from the comics, even though they aren’t cannon. A bigger advantage I think Pen has is his ability to create anything. The only downside is that his creations are much more frail. Also that whole fight with Highlighter but we don’t need to talk about him.

The Pen will prove its mettle in this battle if both are at their peak. Sword is sharp. Sword has a LOT of righteous (and sometimes unrighteous) indignation and knows how to just disappear elements of a problem. Pen however is smart. It has done things from stop an enemy army to shaping the entire way we live, speak, and even hold medical practice. In a battle to the death, Sword will lose its stuff. As it is a very wrathful being that had slain generations with an outright look of justice in its eyes. But Pen would untlimately loophole Sword into being unable to do anything. And then eventually law sword into defeat.

THOUGH! A counter point. In desperation, there are a few simulations where Sword saw opportunity, which actually broke the rule. xD Sword sometimes can take advantage of how slow bureaucracy is. It would be a while between attacks connecting and laws ratifying for Pen to do anything to the environmental field.

Oh wow. I am actually conflicted on this simple seeming matchup. xD Pen has more smarts. Its influence has changed globes fictional AND realistic. But any deliberation can be interrupted. (In fact politicians hate that so much, one falsely accused an opposing party member of 'conspiring' to it. :P) And what action can there be for sword but to crash the party? It REALLY boils down to how fast Pen can write.

I think I finally solved this battle. Pen and Sword would have a VERY close and heavy battle, with Pen outlining every philosophy of this world and putting it to work. I came across the quote of the philosopher Homer. "The sword itself is an act of violence." Pen's final blow would be the spell "Violence is never the solution" and then put Sword in a sitting duck position for a victory.
