Greetings, viewers! Commissioner here; pleasure to be listening with you, quite a pleasure! I am pleased to say once again Therewolf has brought another ABSOLUTE BANGER to life!! So I was quite the fan of Villainous as a TV show; fun concept, likeable characters, friggin Markiplier in the voice cast, and I especially liked the overarching head-honcho Black Hat. He’s a character I would love to see enter the Death Battle arena some day, I just feel like he’d bring so much to the table as a combatant. He’s admittedly got a few decent options for an episode, with some cool possible opponents like the Warden, Count Bleck, Him, and even Bill Cipher if he ever made a return, with stuff like fight dynamics and interesting debates being solid across the board. But for music potential? Yeah, I knew on instinct who would be his best option. The Radio Demon himself, menacing overlord and assistant of the Hazbin Hotel, Alastor. Shouldn’t come as a shock that someone from a musical had quite a few songs to pull from for a reference track, and hooo boy, did Aaron deliver in adapting it. I didn’t think “Symphonic Swing” could possibly work, but not only did the madlad do it in spades, but he created a truly wonderful storytelling track that had both wacky and creepy moments. Loved it so much, and beyond grateful he went up and beyond with it. Also can I just give an enormous thanks to Xenn? I wasn’t too sure what to request for a track art, so I thought something simple like a Cheshire grin and some voodoo symbols would suffice. What I got instead? One of the HARDEST TRACK ARTS IVE SEEN IN MY DAMN LIFE. The chains going through, the hotel symbol on top of the Black Hat organization symbol, two of their most notable underlings (including a crazy obsessive girl + a reluctant punching bag of a minion, highlighting a connection of the matchup)…. I think I stared at it for hours. No words, it just looks so damn good. Aaron, thank you again so much. This was everything I could’ve hoped for this matchup and more. Keep working your magic, good sir. Cannot wait to see what else you have in store.

Black hat is causing chaos in the over world causing a huge overpopulation problem below which leads to an extermination in hell overwhelming Charlie, Alastor offers his service if Charlie allows him to return to the earthly plane and stop Black hat by making a deal with Alastor (what he gets in return is debatable) this of courses leads to a conflict where Alastor confronts Hat in his office with Flug, 5.0.5 and Demencia being thrown out of the way so they don’t get in the way of Alastor leading to the main fight (where Alastor wins like I’m not saying this as a Hazbin stand I’m saying this as someone who despite seeing a lot of Villanious doesn’t know why people praise him as powerful I would really like to know)

(Black Hat tries to absorb Alastor's soul, only to discover Angelic weaponry destroys the soul. Screams of agony are the only channel the radio broadcasts. Though given its normal playings, it was an improvement.)

Yeah, we need a lot more showings of Alastor, or even just general scaling for higher levels of the hellaverse, before a guy like him could get on the show. Plus Alastor’s arsenal in general could use more too; he’s kind of just got tendrils, shadow minions, explosions, and growing big rn. As it stands, it feels like Alastor would find a much closer opponent in someone like Sukuna, although even that’s a fight he almost certainly loses.

So we all know this MU is an absolute stomp As such, I really like how around 2:09 it actually feels like BH stops messing around and shows Alastor the huge power gap between them (maybe destroying the planet, summoning several galaxy-conquering armadas, dragging fellow villains like The Lich or Him, etc) And by the time we reached the climax, its less of a battle of equals, and more so Alastor giving his all before inevitably dying

Y'know, even if I still enjoy the MU despite not really knowing much of the characters I find it quite funny how one of the main things talked about for this matchup is that Alastor gets erased in nuclear fire because of how little content he's got going for him. Thankfully in this song the only thing akin to such heat would be its quality because darn it's a nice track. Even as someone that's not seen either show I can still hear just how much personality is in the song and how fitting it is towards both characters. From the small references both to the shows and the fanmade stuff regarding the shows like the TV static at the start and end of the song to the general progression and representation of the characters that I'll cover in a bit, this track most definitely doesn't shy away from trying to sound unique and it succeeds really well while sounding great. Another thing that's nice is that, despite the fact that from what I understand this track isn't getting vocals (and I'll be assuming as such for the rest of this review so if I'm wrong and it's actually getting vocals ? Well tough luck to me I guess), it's still written in such a way that it's heavily melodic which would allow for vocals to be added on top of most of its duration which is yet another thing befitting the matchup. I mean, I was told that this track fits Alastor more so than Black Hat even if the latter's not forgotten so it only makes sense that Hazbin Hotel who's known for having a metric crap ton of musicals in its runtime would have a song set and ready to receive lyrics (makes me wonder if anyone's gonna try and make actual lyrics for the song ?). Just taking the main melody into account for example, it perfectly strikes that feeling of funky swing music that you'd expect while also including a more symphonic feel with the piano that's used as the main instrument which fits the other half of the matchup and that results in neither characters feeling left out. But as said before there's also the progression of the track that's to be taken into account because it certainly doesn't leave to be desired. Most of its runtime is, as expected, very upbeat and even if scale is felt throughout its duration it certainly doesn't quite feel evil. But as it progresses it slowly becomes more and more serious/slightly distorted up to 2:06 where the song takes on a completely different tone to fit both characters getting serious and revealing their "true" selves; that being horrifying monsters actually befitting their mantle. And the fact that such a drastic shift in the song just feels natural shows how well done, even more so when it starts shifting back at 3:01 into something more befitting the previous funky attitude of the song while still keeping that very intimidating and powerful presence: it gets across how, despite their appearance having changed to something much more hellish, they've returned to actually fighting instead of trying to intimidate the other into defeat which brings the song to its natural climax at 3:20 where the main melody is taken back but fittingly increased in intensity and scale to make it more serious and impactful. And given how good the main melody already was prior to this you can imagine that this ending is just magnificent, even more so when adding up the final strum of piano with the TV static coming in to close out the track. Really nice conclusion to a great track that almost makes me wish DB would do this matchup even if it'd cause the whole DB fandom to turn into a nuclear wasteland *and* Alastor doesn't have any meaningful content for the whole thing. Still, might get me to finally watch Hazbin Hotel. Overall this song is pretty much what I expected from the matchup in terms of quality: that being a really freaking good song that's full to the brim with personality, a really solid progression with which you can quite easily imagine how the battle between those two would progress and a ton of references that, for the many that I didn't catch/wasn't told about, I'm positive will make fans of either/both characters like the song even more than I already do. Really, it makes me wonder if anyone's going to be mad enough to commission I.M.P. VS Murder Drones or some variation of it at some point because that'd be absolutely insane, insanely *good* that is even if the matchup itself questionable. Either way, amazing job as always with this.

Stat wise, stomp yea But I don't think he has angelic energy or weapons One of these are required to permanently kill a sinner, otherwise they respawn in hell. This might be a lose for others but alastor can teleport so he can just retry over and over. This fight can only be won by pure intellect, which i think alastor takes. If he can capture other overlords he could capture him. Though correct me if I'm wrong

I'm not sure.... By the point of his cartoonish lore Black Hat smokes the hell out of Hazbine Hotel characters. Or at least that is how they represent him as a malevolous force because (as I recall) we dont have anything related to Haven or Hell that can tell us Black hat can hurt divine beings. Not to mention we dont have anything related to a S2 from CN Latin America (and with WB almost commiting tax fraud... I don't know)

I adore Alastor - don't get me wrong, but Alastor is out classed here. Here are a few snippets of what B/H can do = 1) Technopathy: Black Hat can tamper with electronic devices at will, as depicted when a citizen who got in his manor by mistake attempted to take a picture of him. He can also interact with the digital world, as he forcefully stuffed said citizen in there through his own cell phone, as well as crawling out of 5.0.5.'s computer after jump scaring him. 2) Fourth Wall Awareness. Very little needs to be said about this one. 3) Portal Creation: As shown in "Squeak" and "Villainy In Monte Macabre", Black Hat is be able to open portals to alternate dimensions with his claws. *Both do share black/dark magical abilities, size manipulation, theatrical prowess & chaisma for days on end. But it's the fact that he can mess with the thing that Alastor loves most (his radio & by extension - his microphone, which once it was broken by Adam, distressed him enough for him to flee) & ability to take the fight wherever he wants (he could take the fight to heaven & steal/use their weapons against Alastor, as their weapons do harm even a demon of Alastor''s caliber) that would ultimately prove Mr. Black Hat would win.
