So cuplikan (read: choo plee khan) means highlights, so you only watched 10 minutes of the opening. It was originally 2 HOURS! Asian Games, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from all over 45 nations in Asia. They have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The Games today is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and are described as the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games. 2018 holds 1800 athletes with 40 sport disciplines. The opening ceremony was opened with a ratoeh jaroe dance to greet the invited guests in attendance, involving 1600 girls from 18 Jakarta High Schools. This dance originated in Aceh, a province in Indonesia on the west end, located on the island of Sumatra. The opening ceremony started at 19:00 Western Indonesian Time (GMT+7) on Saturday, 18 August 2018. Wishnutama, CEO of Indonesian TV network NET. was the creative director for the ceremony. The ceremony stage showcased a towering 26 meter-high mountain with a waterfall as its background, accompanied by Indonesian plants and flowers.[69] North and South Korea delegates marched together under one unified flag of Korea, which marked the first time both countries did so in the Asian Games after 12 years. The games was officially opened by the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. this opening ceremony has 5 segments. 1. Water theater from the Majapahit kingdom in 1293 to 1500, "Gajah Mada" which unites islands with water. And this also symbolizes the greatness of Indonesia as a maritime country. This segment closed by raisa with "zamrud khatulistiwa" song. 2. Earth symbolizing natural wealth and diversity of tribes in Indonesia. here displays 19 traditional dances and regional song from several ethnic groups in Indonesia. 3. Air describes the ancestral strength and nationalism of the Indonesian people. So, this segment is not in the highlight footage that you watch. 4. Fire describes the spirit and courage of the Indonesian people. In addition, this segment is also a portrayal of victory as well as the opening of the 2018 Asian Games. Here is fire dance combined with kecak dance from bali. 5. Energy describes the strength and diversity of young people as Asian spirit and energy. Here is enlivened by futuristic dance, ballet, hip hop, parkour, contemporary cube accompanied by the official song "Bright as the sun"

They practiced for about 7 months until the Asian Games began. Involved 5000 people. They make Real replica of waterfalls, mountain and mini moon specifically for this event. Check out the Closing Ceremony too ^^

The stage was huge it was 135 x 30 meters, 26 m tall, weight about 600 Ton because it is including artificial waterfall with a real water pouring down. Don't forget also about the volcano replica as its tallest on the stage, the caldera of volcano becomes the main cauldron to lit by the torch carried by our gold medalist Olympian athlete.

That Hawaïan vibe you got from the opening ceremony actually resembles the Majapahit Kingdom in Indonesia from 1300-1500 that rules over almost half of the Indonesian Islands and Malaysia today.🇮🇩 And also the girls in the beginning are not 13, they are all actually above 18 y/o😄.
