Fun fact: This episode wasn't originally an episode for Tales from The Crypt, and it was meant to be the pilot episode of a new TfTC-like series called Two-Fisted Tales, which was means to be an anthology series focusing on action/crime stories. Unfortunately, the series never got picked up. But since they already had the episode filmed, they decided to include in Tales from The Crypt, which why it feels like it doesn't fit with the rest of the series. It's a shame really, as I think it could have been an interesting anthology series like how TfTC was.
