If someone had tried to describe this album to me before I'd heard it, I don't think it would have prepared me for this, or done justice to it. "It's a mish-mash of French oldies, heavy metal, and avant-garde symphony"... how on earth would that even work??? Well, it does, and it's glorious! This album is underrated, even (especially!) by Therion fans. I also love the hard-rock/psychedelic stuff Christofer did under the name Luciferian Light Orchestra (which sounds similar to that weird Therion song "Dreams of Swedenborg"), as well as the ABBA cover "Summer Night City" - I don't normally give disco the time of day, but I have a feeling a Therion disco (or at least ABBA) cover album would be an absolute hoot as well.

les voix lyriques passent bien en français ca fait plaisir d'entendre du français dans le metal x) ca me rappelle un groupe français que j admire particulièrement "dark sanctuary". you are a kid... so you are forgiven...I have known Therion since the beginning...i have seen a lot of their live performances and believe me this is not some ugly old man speaking... i'm 35 and i never stopped listening and searching for good music. Johnson is a brilliant artist but i believe he has become entrenched over the years. theli and vovin are masterpieces. but dare i say this album is a bit better than the last two releases but overall nothing new...french literature saves the day!

I've got just about all the music Therion has ever released, and love just about all of it, and this one is really something special: beautiful stuff. I'm not beyond criticizing the band - "A'arab..." is not one I'd recommend to a new listener, "Beloved Antichrist" was just a bit too long for its own good, and the earliest Therion black/death metal albums and demos and pre-Therion thrash demos are mostly for completists only - but after the band started experimenting a little and building on their crude Celtic Frost foundations to find their own sound, they haven't really done anything I'd considered bad - always something a little different, and some things that I like more than others, but Therion definitely rules!

I completly agree. Some of my friends didn't like the newer albums, but for me Gothic Kabbalah is probably the best (followed closely by Vovin and Sirius B). While this one is undoubtedly different it is pure genius and i just keep listening to it.
