Love the quickies. I don't need to watch someone feed their livestock every day just to find five minutes of real content. I vote for keeping the quickies!

Yesssssssssssssssssss!! You GET it Nancy! That's exactly it! No dig on them if they can get people do watch them do their daily chores and ramble on.....that's awesome, more power to them! Lucky that they can just film and do that and be sustainable as a channel. I don't have the personality for that unfortunately, LOL. So my goal is information wall-to-wall! Thanks for noticing Nancy! :-)

Totally hear you on that. If you can, build ON TOP of the clay or compact soils....don't spend ungodly amounts of labor to work stuff in....grow shallow-rooted stuff on top and build your soil profile that way.

Only just started growing first time EVER. I have saved some of your easiest videos. I actually planted coriander/cilantro, first time ever with seeds, they actually sprouted. I am. Disabled so I was lazy to go to the garden shed to get soil. So I used the cactus soil 😁, that was already in my kitchen cabinet, nothing happened for 28 days. Total failure, so this time I've done it properly, leaves have sprouted. More n more leaves are sprouting every day, no corruander leaves yet, but its only been 6 days . I'm so proud of myself. If this one's a success, next will be mint. This is in a small pot in my kitchen window sill. I will eventually move outside, my other half will get me a glass covered space for my new hobby, I want to grow peppers, green chillies, tomatoes, potatoes, garlic and ginger, too bad I can't care for chickens, I'd love to have my range free eggs.

Honestly, the long videos of growers going on and on and on about stuff other than the topic in their title, plus people commenting on my other videos thanking me for not including a bunch of fluff.....that was it. It clicked. I was like, let's take ONE topic.....one hyperspecific topic and try to answer the most asked questions on that subject in as short amount of time as possible. And then it just flew from there Jim! Thanks for watching man, means a lot!

Thanks for the consolidated Quickies videos Jeff! Relating to the soil quickie, how would you suggest amending hard red clay soil? Western North Carolina is all hard red clay. I have intentions to using it to make good soil rather than just buying garden soil by amending it with compost and Perlite/Vermiculite. Though I’m not sure which of Perlite or Vermiculite would be better. Perhaps that would be another good quickie video? Discussing the differences and pros/cons of the two? Thanks again, sir!
@TheRipeTomatoFarms2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Travis! I would definitely amend......but not nutrients. Organic matter...that's what you want. If possible, build your soil on TOP of the clay.....consistently layer new crops and organic matter season after season. That's the best way with hard, compact soils. :-)

I'm sorry to bother.. I'm going to try to grow some basics in the house. Ive learned a few tricks n techniques but feeling overwhelmed with all of the "soil" choices. Can anyone tell me what type of soil is best to grow potatos and onions. Is there a mix or does one start with one type and add another? I'm having a hard time finding out how to get started. Thanks! EDIT: Oh yay! I left this comment on a couple videos to find this is about soil!
@TheRipeTomatoFarms2 жыл бұрын
Potatoes and onions enjoy a loose, well drained, but most loam, high in organic matter and moderate nutrients with a neutral pH.
