In Michigan mature cilantro plants (grown for a fall crop in September) are more likely to survive under a blanket of snow than at the same temperature with wind and no snow.

@Off-grid simply Happy Rodriguez if you live in zone 8b like I do in North Florida. Here's what I did to grow cilantro I started my seeds in September 2021 outside in the container I will cut and harvest them from. I still have the same plant, and in got down to 23 degrees last week on damage at all. I plan on moving it inside this summer when the temperatures go above 75 degrees so don't bolt. Before I would start it in the summer and it bolts before I harvested any.

Great video Jeff! For a tropical plant Cilantro really likes cooler weather. I have had great success growing it in a South exposed window through the dead of winter here in zone 3 Canada. It self seeds well here but bolts in the heat of summer. Later seedlings thrive in the fall if it cools off. I use it in homemade salsa and collect the coriander seed to dry and grind. Hope the snow doesn't get too deep out there. Regards man.

Very good Kevin, that's essentially how I grow it now. I rarely grow it outdoors unless I can give it a shady spot in the summer. But I need to figure something out because we can't get enough of it! 🙂

@@TheRipeTomatoFarms It seems to be very happy at 10 mg of Masterblend, 5 mg of Epsom salt, and 10 mg of calcium nitrate per 5 gallons of water. I haven't tested it at other concentrations. 😮💥 ...Wow! ...Insane! Cilantro will only take spring & fall here in northern Chicago. It just hates our summer heat & sun. It seems strange that tropical areas would have success with the plant getting to maturity. After the warm germination temp gets them to pop, the sun and heat would most definitely kill them off.🤔 Maybe that's why I've heard to plant it in partial shade?🤔🤷♀️ As always, thanks for sharing your epic experiments and knowledge! 🤗😗🏆💞
