Never knew their collaboration went so far back. A beautiful chemistry. Inspiring.

I had been listening to Chester for a few years after I started listening to Genesis (19872-ish). I was just learning to play, listening to Collins, Bruford, and then Thompson, with Weather Report. I was shocked to hear he was joining Genesis on tour, but it sure worked!

phil was not underrated as drummer, he just stopped to be a drummer when he started leading genesis ,, especially when he decided to use a drum machine

Well i agree, at this point in 77 he was on fire....energy an chops to match...he was great in 72/3 of course, but he was a different player to here...then once the solo success kicked in his drumming froze in time a bit and didn't develop much more...i still love it ALL though😎

I like Phil from this period. After 1981 he was a bit bitter and less laid back -- likely because of all the problems with his divorce.

@@XanAxDdu You really a a stereotypical dickhead and give drummers a bad name? Your real name isn't Joe McGlade is it?
