I know something about the dinosaurs. Therizinosaurus’ name means “scythe lizard”. The first fossil of Therizinosaurus was originally thought to be from a giant turtle. There has been much debate about the diet of Therizinosaurus. Now, it’s widely accepted that Therizinosaurus is a herbivorous dinosaur, and its claws were used mainly for defense against predators like Tarbosaurus, but were also used to pull down tall branches with leaves on them. Therizinosaurus lived 75 million years ago in the Late Cretaceous period in what is now Mongolia. Today, most of Mongolia’s wild spaces are desert. But, 75 million years ago, Mongolia was a mix of tropical forest, scrubland, and marsh. Therizinosaurus lived alongside the ankylosaur Tarchia, the hadrosaur Saurolophus, the maniraptorids Talos, Deinocheirus, Gigantoraptor, and the tyrannosaurid Tarbosaurus.
