I bought a Hikmicro after many reviews and I'm quite happy with it for electronic board repair. Light enough it can be used on a swing arm mounted to the desk.

Interesting comparison, the Klein TI250 is the older model with the "10k" pixels too, no WiFi, but only $280, sometimes less for homeowners looking for cold or hot spots.

@@sloanNYC yeah, but there's no reason a homeowner looking for cold/hot spots should be paying $280 for a camera. There's really just no reason I can think of to ever consider the Klein ones as they exist right now

I've read lots of comments of others who are Android owners, they say Flir is a pain when it comes to connectivity, sort of makes sense, if they can't really get iOS right and it was originally designed for interaction with that platform, then it stands to reason that working with Android would be worse Flir really need to redesign from the ground up
@dereksolarboi13 күн бұрын
@@stultuses I think it's possible that both platforms made changes to how developers are allowed to discover devices on the network, probably under the guise of security. Lots of manufacturers have had problems with this, but FLIR is...least improved

Doing a little research...I'm a NJ resident and thinking up picking up a thermal camera to video drones, planes, and other aircraft (big issue in NJ right now). Any recommendations for a thermal camera for this type of video recording. Appreciate your input....you look like you've already done a lot of research on thermal camera. Not sure if one of those smaller iPhone thermal cameras would cut it....any input's appreciated. :)
@dereksolarboi19 күн бұрын
@@RGMGFitness I'm gonna guess you want something with a lot better resolution, as well as perhaps one with the ability to focus on longer ranges. Those get real pricey, though, you'd be firmly in the professional price bracket. I'd define the ones in the video as pro-sumer level
@RGMGFitness19 күн бұрын
@ ok…appreciate the input. I did see someone video a plane ✈️ and get pretty good results from the “Xinfrared T2 Pro” which runs about $350 (USD). Just has to give me the outline to differ between airplane, helicopter, or drone.
@dereksolarboi18 күн бұрын
Oh, cool! Didn't realize focusing existing on that level of camera. If you don't get a Xinfrared, whatever else you get should have the focusable lens, probably something similarly aimed towards hunters. These cameras won't give you that level of adjustability.

I’m looking for a thermal imaging camera that picks up heat coming from trace heating cabling under thermal insulation lagging on fire sprinkler pipes… would the Fluke PTi120 work or would the heat emitting from the insulation lagging affect the heat trace cabling? Love the vlogs.
@dereksolarboi2 ай бұрын
@@Swifty.lover.13 I'm not sure! Thermal cameras will always only show the thermal radiation from the surface of whatever you're pointing them at. So if you think the heating cabling affects the localized temperature of the lagging, then it might work for ya!

Some of my hesitation with phone-specific cameras, admittedly, is the fact that I use iPhones, and the port situation has been stupid on that front for awhile
@mikeyr527522 күн бұрын
@@dereksolarboi thought it was a little odd that you were repeatedly stating that the plug-in-to-phone models are cheap and low-resolution, as that's not really a useful summary of the differences...? (not that I think I could make a better video, overall you did an awesome job, thanks for digging into the software) Makes sense they could be cheaper due to saving money on a display, and there's a risk of damaging your phone's port by dropping, or hitting it on a pipe or something. But some of those little plug-in models have resolution better than the worst "compact camera" style models you showed, and there are cheaper "gun style" models. Oh, and a plug-in model can be used on an "extension cord", which could be extremely convenient in an unusual situation, to get it through a small-ish opening. Yeah, the USB-C iPhone situation is a drag, maybe finally starting to sort itself out. Have you seen the Android phone style thermal cameras? Similar take to the "compact camera" style, in terms of form factor, with some advantages (bigger screen, presumably above average touch handling, no need to transfer to a cell phone for editing if that's what you would be doing otherwise). (also some disadvantages, particularly if you don't fancy using it as your phone as well)
