I bought a P2 recently and it works great. I have been using it with a Samsung Note 8, I had extra. The app starts every time I plug the unit in. In very dark condition, where I couldn't see anything, I was able to see the horses walking around the barn from several hundred feet away with 15X Zoom.

I believe I pointed out in this video that the P2 zoom feature is great for longer distance work, such as boilers, aircon, and yeah finding horses. The point i made is that in my application, looking for heat in small electronic components that are maybe 1mm long, it does not have the ability to focus on these where other cameras, specifically the ET13S can. This all comes down to your intended use and I was asked to review the P2 in a very specific way, which i did.

I bought one to check for potential problems at a client's house and it's since been a valuable tool to have. I don't use it often, but no need to charge the battery beforehand which resloution is higher than FlIR. it's worth every penny. 👍🏻

This is not a bad thermal camera, and the zoom feature is ideal for distance work. I was asked to compare the P2 with the ET13S and my channel discusses electronics repair to component level. The P2 can't focus on close up components and that is why it is not so good in this application, which I believe I clearly demonstrated. Bear in mind the small parts i am looking at in this video are maybe 1mm long.

i use an audio thermal detector, i place a pinkie on the component and if it's above 60 °C you hear a cry of "ouch". if it's over 100°C "F-that" is heard. works for me and as a bonus it does not need batteries. just thought that if you had a spare one you could save the pain and suffering that my little pinkie goes through during fault finding. 🙂

Should have tried the macro lens in front of P2. They probably should have supplied a macro lens, would have made it much more useful.

Errmmm yeah that would be called the P2 Pro. I've reviewed it before P2 Pro vs FLIR One : kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHeYlJmoe51litU P2 Pro vs T2S+ : kzbin.info/www/bejne/pp-wgImbg6mHgLs I've made my own opinion well known on here and also on live streams on several previous occasions. I believe the P2 Pro is the best quality thermal camera in it's class. The ET13S is also very good, but not as good as P2 Pro, however it is about €100 cheaper so taking that into consideration It is probably the best all rounder for electronics technicians. Come to think of it, I'll make a P2 Pro vs ET13S comaprison next week 😉

The little holder and belt clip make the P2 ideal for that. And for anything other than close up PCB repair it will work just fine

This a review of the P2 which is not the same thing as P2 Pro. The P2 Pro is an excellent thermal camera, I have one. In my opinion it is the best available in this sort of price range and I have discussed this in the live streams also. Without doubt the P2 Pro with macro lens is the best thermal camera for electronics repair that I have reviewed/tested so far. The T2S+, which I have also tested/reviewed, gives the P2 Pro a very good run for it's money, in fact it is probably the best option regards thermal image quality but having a manual focus macro lens it is a bit more finicky to use than the fixed focus macro P2 Pro. The Tooltop ET13S with the optional macro lens is close in performance/thermal image quality to the P2 Pro/T2S+ (though in all honesty not quite as good) but for it's lower price, about €100 less and it is also a rather nice multimeter, it's a very good choice for most buyers IMHO and in real world use I don't believe the more expensive, but admittedly better quality, P2 Pro/T2S+ will actually enable you to repair more faults.
@AnnaVannieuwenhuyse17 күн бұрын
@LearnElectronicsRepair yes, I'm aware, thanks! I've used both the macro lens and the bare camera for both repairs and, oddly enough, finding studs in my walls. I needed a stud finder, but now I don't anymore.

Worst review ever make a comparison with Infiray P2 Pro and the new Uni-t USB-c of the same specs... DONT buy this camera just because of the fact they didnt want a real comparison or test.
@anthonydenn434517 күн бұрын
It failed pretty miserably with this test either way. Tbf as Richard pointed out, without the macro lens it really hasn't got a chance used in this application to begin with. You're prob looking at an extra 50 dollars bundled together. Puts it in the price range of the P2 Pro.
@LearnElectronicsRepair17 күн бұрын
@@anthonydenn4345 And the P2 Pro is probably the best thermal camera I ever tested. Yeah in my opinion the ET13S represents the best bangs for buck ratio but the P2 Pro gives the clearest images. Whether that means you can fix more faults using the P2 Pro I would seriously challenge. If you want the best available at this price range get the P2 Pro. If you want to save €100 the ET13S with macro lens will work just as well for you in any real world situation. Thermal Master specifically asked me to test the P2 agaisnt the ET13S and this is what I did. To be fair though, I am testing in a very specific application. I am sure that the P2 with it's zoom feature would be the best choice for air con and similar sort of repair work.
